This Postmodern sofa and chairs are designed by Gianfranco Frattini, the 'Sesann' works from the idea of informal sitting where everything has a soft line and a bulky. It is the materialisation of the new idea of interior design, were the items were part of a larger playful living landscape instead of being a rationalist object in itself. The mass of the material and the backrest is supported and contained by a chrome metal armour. The uncanny, original design that consists of the large cushions, the tufted surface creates an vibrant appearance. It has a lot of resemblances with the Soriana model by Scarpa, that was designed in the same year.
Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) was an Italian designer and architect. Similarly to many other architects, Frattini became an interior and Industrial designer because he missed the specific furnishings for his buildings. Frattini was a very skilled woodworker and was a student of Gio Ponti. His style can be defined by its architectural structure and playful lines.
We advise to reupholster this sofa as the leather shows signs of age and use. It has a rich patina and a tear in the seat.
