Stringa' Cognac Leather + Chrome Loveseat by Gae Aulenti for Poltronova

About the Item

An iconic ‘Stringa’ two-seat sofa designed by Gae Aulenti for Poltronova in the 1960s. This beautifully proportioned, sculptural loveseat is constructed of tubular chromed metal and features patinated cognac leather seat cushions. The padded back cushions are upholstered in felt and accented with leather covers. Thick leather straps effortlessly hold the cushions in place. Italy, 1960s. Gae Aulenti (1927-2012) was a prolific Italian architect, art director, and product designer renowned for her post-war style and industrial designs. She was the art director of Fontana Arte and designed a range of modern, innovative pieces. Aulenti was one of few women in the field at the time and is regarded as one of the most iconic figures in Italian design and architecture. Sold and priced individually. Condition: Great overall vintage condition. Minor scuffs along the chrome frame and slight oxidation at the legs. The seat cushions display light scratches, marks, and water spots.
