Stunning antique Gothic trunk. If you are looking for the perfect way to get rid of your mother in law then this large size Gothic chest could be flying your way soon. All kidding aside, this wonderfully bulky chest really is of an impressive and practical size. It comes with deep and beautiful, hand carved Gothic elements in the front panel and inside that solid wooden front panel also is a perfect working, wrought iron lock (with key). The wrought iron, shield-like lockplate above the Gothic window-like carved details too is the perfect one for this Medieval Style chest. The large and very thick lid is strong enough to hold a couple of grown-ups (both sitting and standing) and this chest also has an incredibly warm patina. Over the centuries there have been some restaurations and replacements. In fact, some parts are 18th century (or even older) and some are late 19th or possibly even early 20th century. Over the centuries some parts of this chest were nibbled on by woodworm and this too has given this piece its extra ancient and beautiful, time-worn look. We can tell that the woodworm has not been active in this piece for decades and if you would rather not take our word for it, then you can still have it deep-frozen (which is the modern day method of dealing with woodworm). Luckily former owners have made the effort of replacing the worn parts, because it is why this large antique Gothic chest still looks amazing. Thanks to the old restaurations this rare antique and talking piece stands perfectly strong and stable. Because of its condition this antique can and will be used and enjoyed for many more years, decades and even centuries to come. It will look marvelous in an entry hall, at the footend of your bed or in any other space where it has the room to shine.
