About the Item

This iconic Mid-Century Modern wall mount cabinet, Model 123 W-1, designed by Florence Knoll for Knoll Associates in the 1950s, exemplifies sophisticated American design. Featuring adjustable wood and glass shelves, sliding door fronts with elegant leather pulls, and wall mounts on a cleat for a sleek floating effect, this piece offers versatile functionality as a credenza, media console, wall cabinet, or TV console cabinet. Perfectly restored, it enhances a living room, office, or collector’s curated space with its minimalist lines and refined craftsmanship, blending practicality with timeless mid-century style. Florence Knoll (1917–2019), a pioneering American designer and architect, was instrumental in shaping Mid-Century Modern design. Based in the USA, she founded Knoll Associates and collaborated with the firm to create furniture and interiors known for their innovative use of materials and functional elegance, including the Model 123 W-1. Her work remains a hallmark for collectors and interior designers. Knoll Associates, established in the USA in the 1940s, became a leader in mid-century furniture production under Florence Knoll’s influence. Based in the USA, the company gained fame in the 1950s for its high-quality designs, incorporating features like sliding doors and leather accents, reflecting the era’s blend of modernity and craftsmanship, a legacy treasured by design enthusiasts today. ---Dimensions--- Width: 72 in / 182.88 cm Depth: 15.5 in / 39.37 cm Height: 17.75 in / 45.09 cm This iconic Model Model 123 W-1 floating credenza has recently undergone a comprehensive and transformative restoration process and the results speak for themselves! the mix of solid and veneered black walnut composition has been hand-sanded and refinished bringing the walnut woodgrains back to their original luster. There's virtually no discernable wear visible on any wooden surface. The leather handles have been re-constructed with new leather by our upholsterer and features a design and appearance indiscernible from the original. Both doors slide open and close with ease and all five shelves (two made from glass and 3 from wood) are adjustable. The wall unit is easily attached to a wall via it's dual cleat seeding system. This icon of 1950s design is incredibly functional, structurally solid and ready for a literal lifetime more of use thanks to it's recent restoration process.
