About the Item
A very fine quality antique George III inlaid flame mahogany bookcase secretary, circa 1780.
The bookcase bureau is in two sections, the bookcase top having a stepped crown with band of checkered inlay, below are two astragal glazed doors enlosing three adjustable shelves.
The base with four drawers, all with checkered satinwood inlay, the top drawer having a fall front writing surface with a fitted interior of nine drawers & five pigeon holes, the drawers with satinwood line inlay. Below are three graduated drawers, all the drawers have the original brass bail handles & brass 'batwing' shaped lock escutcheons, the bookcase is raised on shaped bracket feet.
The secretary bookcase is made of the finest figured Cuban mahogany, the cabinet retains it's original finish, all the hardware and glass is also original and the original key is present.
A very fine quality bookcase secretary displaying the skill of an outstanding cabinet maker of the 18th century, condition is excellent, this beautiful antique bookcase secretary is ready to grace your home or office.

A very rare antique George III English Mahogany secretary bookcase, with a fitted collector's or doctor's cabinet to the base, circa 1790.
The bookcase in two sections; the top section with a flared cornice with a frieze of dentil molding below, the bookcase with twin glazed doors with intersecting curvilenear astragals, the doors enclosing a pair of adjustable shelves.
The base having a deep drawer with a locking fall front desk, fitted with a tooled & gilded leather writing surface, and a fitted interior with pigeonholes with removable doors and drawers each fitted with an oval gilded name label. Below are a pair of locking doors enclosing an elaborately fitted interior; comprising one long shallow tray shaped drawer above a host of 13 drawers of various sizes, all with the original brass hardware and corresponding oval gilded name tag, to the left side is a file space.

A fine & rare antique George III Sheraton inlaid mahogany bookcase secretary, circa 1795.
A diminutive bureau bookcase In two parts, the top having a stepped cornice with twin doors below, the doors having very unusual astragal decoration of neo-classical urns with swags & surmounted with 'Prince of Wales' fleur des lys finials, the doors enclosing three shelves and three short inlaid drawers. The base having an inlaid fall front & oval floral paterae enclosing a fitted interior with six pigeon holes four drawers and a central locking door with shell inlay, the writing surface having a red 'bull's blood' tooled & gilded leather. Below are three inlaid drawers with the original brass handles, the base having a single 'secret' drawer and the bookcase is raised on tall 'French' bracket feet.

The base with a series of four graduated drawers with shield shaped lock-plate escutcheons inlaid with bone, to the center is a fall front writing surface enclosing a fitted interior with a series of drawers, pigeon holes and a central locking door, the doors and drawers are inlaid with satinwood stringing.
