George Nelson CSS Book Shelf Wall Unit with Desk Herman Miller Circa 1955

About the Item

Herman Miller introduced George Nelson’s Comprehensive Storage System (CSS) in 1959 and produced it until 1973. Available in various wood finishes, the CSS could also be customized to fit customers' needs, thanks to its modular units that included shelves, drawers, and desk units. This innovative storage system designed by George Nelson was a groundbreaking achievement in the designer's legacy. The shelves and storage compartments are supported by floor-to-ceiling rails that extend to fit most common homes. This vintage walnut storage system had only one previous owner, who purchased it from the manufacturer in the 1960s. It was in their home until recently and is in impeccable condition. This configuration consists of Three Support Rails (W 1" / D 2.25" / H 100"), Six Shelves (W32"/ D12" / H.75"), 1 Desk w/light ( W 32" / D 12"/ H 20"), 1 Storage Cabinet (W 32" / D 12" / H 15") Assembly Instructions.
