Travertine Stone Coffee Tables for Sale on 1stDibs
Used to make everything from sleek sconces to otherworldly stools, travertine is as versatile as it is timeless. And at a time when the world is filled with uncertainty, travertine stone coffee tables and other travertine stone furnishings in any interior exude calm and permanence.
Travertine began cropping up on our radar not long ago when designers were jumping on the mixed-marble trend. The beige limestone now seems ubiquitous, appearing in the jagged slabs of Brazilian architect Otto Felixโs conceptual Sibipirunas House for 2020's CASACOR design event and in the archways of Kelly Wearstlerโs buzzy Santa Monica Proper hotel.
A quick search on 1stDibs turns up beautiful contemporary travertine works, from Kueng Caputoโs Half Way to the Universe stool to Carta Biancaโs Gilded Cross table. And Carlo Scarpaโs 1985 Argo dining table continues to captivate. The range of travertine coffee tables on 1stDibs includes pieces designed by Greenapple, Maison Jansen and more.
Aย coffee tableย can promote conversation, adding an inviting touch to yourย living room, or it can cede the spotlight to your other pieces. Cylindrical tables or round travertine coffee tables introduce a cosmopolitan pop to flashy living room decor, while sculptural handmade coffee tablesย impart an artisanal feel toย minimalistย orย farmhouse-styleย spaces.
When it comes to styling a travertine coffee table, it may be trickier than it looks. "With aย glass coffee table, you also have to think about the surface underneath, like the rug or floor," says New York City designer Tamara Eaton. "With woodย andย stone tables, you think about whatโs on top."
"Start with at least one coffee table book," Eaton continues. "They exude personality, so choose something that piques your interest โ something people feel compelled to pick up. When you stack them, always go large to small โ like a pyramid. The top book is the one on view, so pay attention to its cover. If coffee table books are the base, add a few other big anchor pieces, like aย vaseย or aย tray. Just make sure not to cover the entire surface of the table."
