Mounted on Geometric lower base arched on both sides that allows this magnificent piece to be used as a center table and as a console at the same time, elevating the entirety of this art work of this rare Desk to a category of its own finely chased laurel leaf wreath. we have seen our fair share of incredible furniture of the 15th to 19th Century periods. this table Desk is incredibly well preserved for its age and use . the fitting work and the design i have rarely encountered any at that level of sophistication and craftsmanship. The result that could only be achieved by big Masters comparable to what was done for the Grande Commande. This type of furniture at that level are mostly kept with the old families, rarely to see them on the market. I have some other high end chateau inventory and rare pieces of the periods as well. Hand-carved, circa 1720, using chestnut and oak woods, this desk was recently part of Le Grand Monarque hotel in Chartres, France. The desk has been stripped at some point, allowing the beautiful wood grain and round dowel construction to become focal points.
The stunning desk has a shaped top with quarter round molding. A 23 ½” W seat opening is topped by a concave front drawer with a bronze drop handle affixed by a pair of rosette mounts. Similar handles can be seen on each of the four main drawers, which are surrounded by thick cavetto molding. These drawers also have a scalloped keyplate and mounts of two putti hunting dragons hidden amongst foliage. Interestingly, the sides are comprised of four rectangular panels, with the two nearest to the straight back side being functional drawers.

A light-grey, white antique Swedish Gustavian two part bureau with a writing flap made of hand crafted painted Pinewood, in good condition. The Scandinavian secretaire is composed with two upper doors, three large drawers and many small storage spaces, enhanced by detailed wood carvings. The doors have the original window panes in glass.
