Memphis Writing Desk, Aldo Cibic, Memphis Milano, 1985

About the Item

Rare "Sophia" Writing Desk by Aldo Cibic for Memphis Milano, 1985. Aldo Cibic, an associate of Ettore Sottsass, co-founded the Memphis Group in 1981 and produced some fifteen furniture, among which "Sophia" in 1985. The writing desk is in lacquered wood and covered in decorative laminate and natural wood essence. In spite of its unostentatious colours and the simplicity of its lines, this desk surprises us with its sense of detail. The detachable tray, the side shelf, the blue rod and the blend of wood veneers testify to an experimentation in formal language, revisiting a classic object with controlled fantasy. This specimen is in good condition, with traces of use and a few chips in the wood.
