About the Item

Elegant and rare dining table designed by Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler for Forma in the 1950s, a striking example of Brazilian modernist design. Crafted in solid caviuna wood with warm, expressive grain, the table features gently tapered legs and curved edges — hallmarks of the designers’ refined, sculptural aesthetic. The tabletop is composed of a woven natural cane panel, recently restored, protected by a vintage glass top with a perfect inset fit. The glass retains its original character, including a small chip in one corner that does not compromise function or beauty. Notably, the table’s construction relies entirely on traditional wood joinery, with no screws or metal hardware — a testament to the precision and quality of Brazilian craftsmanship in the mid-century era. The wood retains its original finish with beautiful natural patina. It is in excellent structural condition, showing no cracks or breaks — a remarkable preservation of its original integrity. Hauner & Eisler - Moveis Artesanal - Rare Pair of 1950s nest table in rosewood
By Carlo Hauner, Martin Eisler
Located in São Paulo, SP
This set of nesting tables, designed by Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner for Móveis Artesanal in the mid-1950s, is a rare and iconic example of modern Brazilian design. Made from solid rosewood, the tables stand out for their light forms and sophisticated use of materials. The thin, tapered legs add elegance, while the white Formica tops create a striking contrast with the warm tone of the wood. Móveis Artesanal was a company that preceded Forma, where the design duo became more widely recognized. The functional and versatile design of the nesting tables reflects the designers’ ability to combine aesthetics with practicality, allowing the tables to be used separately or grouped together. This set is a classic example of Brazilian modernist furniture...
