About the Item

Round dining table designed by Poul Kjaerholm, model PK54, produced by E. Kold Christensen (Denmark 1963). White marble top with gray veins, chrome-plated steel base with the manufacturer's mark EKC. Maple wood ring consisting of six pieces, a rotating center (table Top) also made of maple wood. Measurements - diameter: 140/211 cm.; height 65cm. ; diameter table top 105.5 cm. Poul Kjærholm (1929-1980) was a Danish designer. Born in Østervrå, Denmark, Kjærholm began his career as a cabinetmaker's apprentice with Gronbech in 1948, attending the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen in 1952. From the mid-1950s he worked for his friend Ejvind Kold Christiansen, for whom he produced an extensive range of his furniture. In 1963, he designed the PK_54 table. In 1958, he attracted international acclaim for his contributions to the 'Formes Scandinaves' exhibition in Paris and the award of the legendary 'Lunning Award'. In both 1957 and 1960, he won the Grand Prize at the Milan Triennale.
