Art Deco Art Moderne Streamline Gilbert Rohde Herman Miller Vanity c 1930's

About the Item

Iconic Art Deco, Art Moderne vanity designed by Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller, circa 1936. The vanity features a bank of three drawers, which supports a floating glass top surface, that extends the width of the vanity and is framed by a walnut veneered back and opposing end element. The walnut finish is contrasted by the pale yellow color of the bank of drawers. The cream/yellow paint covers what was the original Birdseye Maple veneer, still present under the paint. We believe this was either a custom finish from Herman Miller, or perhaps the work of the decorator back in the 1930's. The paint finish shows significant wear, as shown. Usable as is or this would refinish nicely if you are so inclined. Please view the matching dressers, and nightstands we have listed from this important and rare suite - listed separately at Barbarella Home, on 1st Dibs. Total H 28 x W 51.75 x D 16 Kneehole 27.75 W inches.
