About the Item

Rare antique Swedish original watercolor painting on paper, signed 'Källström' and dated 1919. Incredibly charming piece in Neoclassical manner, featuring a grape cluster besides a jug full of flowers. I have not been able to find out much about the artist but he/she clearly knew how to handle paint confidently with bold brush strokes. It looks a bit like a sketch and I suspect that this artwork could be a training piece by an art student. I'd say it's very rare (at least in Sweden) to find 100+ years old aquarelle paintings in such good condition as this. The paper has yellowed with time though, as expected. The artwork is accompanied by a passe-partout and a nice, completely new wooden frame in dark oak with acrylic glass. Note that he glass was removed during the photo shoot to avoid reflections.
