Large Original Robert Hillingford R.B.A. Oil Painting on Canvas in Ornate Frame
About the Item
This very large and substantial antique oil painting was done by the well known British artist, Robert Hillingfprd in circa 1880 in the style of Realism. The painting is framed in its original and very ornate gilt gesso frame. The frame has a brass tag identifying the artist and that the painting depicts Don Quixote dining with the Duke and Duchess white the Duke gives governorship of an Island to the Squire which the Chaplain disapproves of. The painting is very detailed and done in a very realistic style. This artist is known for his depictions of historical scenes such as this example. The dimensions of this canvas within the frame measures approximately twenty two, by thirty two and a half inches. The dimensions of the frame are posted below.
