Well now… this full-figured four-some is quite FABULOUS… to say the least!!!! WOW!!! This magnificent set of 4 fine art prints unsigned by Alfonso Vila Shum sketches are fun, festive, and simply FANTASTIC!!! Each sketch bears a different PHENOMENAL drawing of silly & eccentric images or figures beautifully matted & framed two horizontal and two vertical. They are numbered and named as #1 Bus Stop, #2 Housewife, #3 At the Beach, and #4 Promenade. They have had QUITE an incredible journey so far in their life and now they are ready to grace your home with their magnificence. Joan Liberty owned Liberty Gallery which was located in the French Quarter on Royal Street in New Orleans for 40 years. After Hurricane Katrina occurred in 2005, she moved to Warner Robins, Georgia and closed the gallery. She owned the original Alfonso Vila Shum sketches and made these prints from his original sketches before she passed away in 2006. They were placed in a presentation folder and we aren’t exactly sure how they made their way to Kansas… but we sure are glad they did! They were obtained by my parents and taken to Stephen Smith… accomplished photographer & owner of Stephen Smith Gallery located in Topeka, Kansas where they were newly framed on December 16th, 2022. The mats are composed of 100% rag cotton acid free museum grade from Crescent and the glass is Museum Glass with a 99% UV rating. The cleaning instructions are on the back of each piece. Alfonso Vila Shum was primarily known for his earlier paintings that were rich in color and expressed a spectacular Spanish influence however, in 1931 he also began creating lighthearted drawings with caustic humor within his characteristic images... much like caricatures. He also had an impressive reputation internationally due to his fantastic illustrations in volumes of Edgar Allen Poe and Oscar Wilde novels. This group of four is obviously much more whimsical than what you may find in a Poe novel, and we are sure they have already stolen your heart. There are many ways to display this marvelous set of four whether in a cluster, one above the other-stacked vertically, all four horizontally, two side-by-side and two beneath, or whatever arrangement you choose! They are going to be marvelous on ANY wall. Fun fact… noted Spanish poet & critic Manuel Allolaguirre once said, “The paintings of SHUM are like rivers of color that illustrate the dreams of men.” Well, you’re not dreaming here folks… these are for REAL!! You NEED these printed sketches!!! Do it… make them YOURS!!!

Wow! We are proud to be able to offer this gorgeous pair of winter landscapes by Dorothy Kordash. The one on the left in our photograph is titled Designs of Winter and depicts a lovely snowy landscape with bare trees and snow-covered grasses in beautiful translucent steel blues and grays and white. It is signed, matted and framed. The watercolor on the right is titled Treescape and depicts an icy blue winter wonderland of bare trees, evergreens, and grasses. These came from a home filled with incredible mid-century modern furnishings and art. They collected many Kansas and Arizona artists work including these by Dorothy Kordash.
Dorothy M. Reece Kordash was born in 1927 in Prairie Village, Kansas. She continued to live, and work in the Kansas City area. However, after retiring, she spent quite a bit of time in Scottsdale, Arizona where she passed in 2010. Her works are in private collections all over the United States. Her obituary states she was one of America’s top cutting-edge artists in the field of contemporary conceptual art and painted in a wide variety of media. Oh yeah… it’s hip to be square!! And in this case, that is definitely true!! This is an awesome series of four-square dimensional mixed metal wall sculptures by C. Jere displaying various unique and abstract geometric designs comprised of steel, brass, and copper arranged in the center of each metal square. C. Jere (a.k.a.) Curtis Jere is not a single artist but is a nom-de-plume for a group of artists working for Artisan House and well known for their phenomenal jewelry, metal sculptures, and collectibles. This series of four is a MUST have for any wall that needs a bold statement piece, touch of Modern style, or simply an intriguing, phenomenal piece of artwork! Position them to your preference and change any wall from being bland, to BOOM! They would be wonderful side by side in a row of four however, I envision them stacked one on top of the other in a large square. Maybe over a fireplace, on a wall in a tall entry way, or on a primary wall in your living room. If you’ve been looking for the right touch of Modern or Industrial edge to welcome into your home… you just found it!
Artisan House artists included founders Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels and Curtis Jere is a combination of their names. Before founding Artisan House these two friends and brothers-in-law had built a costume jewelry business which sold under the names of Renoir and Matisse, two well-known names of mid-20th century costume jewelry. During the mid-20th century, the C. Jere sculptures, and metal work were distributed by Raymor, a well-known name in mid century collectibles, and sold at Gump’s in San Francisco and other upscale retail establishments. Jerry Fels died 11...

OOOH LA LA!!!!! Is there anywhere in the world quite as lovely as the city of Paris? It’s definitely a bucket list destination for many people and we have a treat for you! Exquisite scenes of Paris created by French artist Bernard Buffet to display in your own home! We have two mid-century modern unsigned lithograph prints consisting of a larger print of a scene titled “St. Martin Canal” dated 1956, matted inside a lovely black and silver painted wood frame. And a smaller print of a scene titled “France Le Port de La Rochelle” dated 1955, matted inside a wood frame. These mats and frames are original to the prints. The St. Martin Canal is located in the heart of the city just adjacent to the Seine River and today is a popular tourist destination. Can’t you just see yourself standing upon that bridge with the breeze blowing your hair as you gaze upon the beautiful “City of Lights??” Or maybe you would prefer walking along the harbor watching boats come to port as they sail in off of the Atlantic Ocean? That’s exactly what you can imagine as you gaze upon “France Le Port de La Rochelle!” La Rochelle is a city on the west coast of France and a seaport on the Bay of Biscay. Both of these scenic areas are breathtaking, and Buffet captured their beauty with his proficient Expressionist style!!! They are going to be wonderful on any wall and they’re sure to bring a bit of French fabulous-ness into your home!
