Change the Plan John Thomas Riddle Black Art Serigraph Rare Proof

About the Item

This is a rare proof copy P 7/20 of one of the iconic Black Art Posters of the 1980's. Examples of this work are included in the collection of the Flint Institute of Art, Oakland Museum, The High Museum of Art (Atlanta), and the California African American Museum. This one has a hole punch, has minor creasing, was stored in a tube for decades and has some staining/discoloration. Nonetheless, it's worth of conservation treatment, museum framing and admiration for generations. And, it is priced to accommodate the effort based on auction results rather than gallery markup! It if fresh from the estate of a NY collector who retired to Mobile, AL and is downsizing. So, if you love Black Art, this is an opportunity to add a great work to your private or institutional holdings!

Louisville Pottery Company Daniel Boone Rare Mauve Mid Century Modern Kentucky
By Louisville Pottery Company
Located in Mobile, AL
The Louisville Pottery company used a variety of stamps and sold to touristy shops with marks including Cherokee, Great Smokey Mountains, Daniel Boone, Mammoth Cave, Kentucky Hand Made and more. Most of them are small pitchers and vases in traditional forms. But, then there are occasional exceptions and over time we have all learned that major designers including Frederic Hurten Rhead (over at Selden Bybee) were working in the area. Research is ongoing to identify the examples designed and/or influenced by well known artists or simply a great relatively unknown designer or two deserving of recognition for their work. The JB Speed Art Museum cataloged a slightly smaller gloss green example Accession number 2007.10.9 with the Cherokee Pottery...
