About the Item

An authentic, Ancient Greek silver tetradrachm from the later Ptolemaic Dynasty in Egypt is set in this ancient-inspired handmade 18K setting with round wire and double "jawan" granulation accents designed by Steven Battelle This Hellenistic (Greek) Kingdom in Egypt was founded in 305 BC by Ptolemy I Soter, a companion of Alexander the Great, after Alexander's death. It lasted for almost 3 centuries until the death of Cleopatra VII in 30 BC. The coin displays the Ptolemaic eagle standing on a thunderbolt, which was the symbol chosen by Ptolemy I. The markings beside the eagle indicate it was minted between 110-109 BC during the realm of Ptolemy IX Soter (116-106 BC), the one of the later pharaohs in the dynasty. The bust of Ptolemy I is depicted on the reverse. This pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The 18K handmade hammered chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. It comes in 18”, 20”, and 24” lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant. A classic and beautiful eagle from antiquity !

By Steven Battelle
Located in Soquel, CA
An authentic silver denarius coin with a depiction of the Roman Imperial eagle standing, minted during the realm of the emperor Vespasian in 69-79 AD, is set in a simple matte-finish line textured handmade bezel designed by Steven Battelle. The opposite side of this denarius silver coin (which was approximately a daily wage in those times) is a side view of the emperor Vespasian, who ruled for 27 years. His fiscal reforms and consolidation of the empire generated political stability and a vast Roman building...
