Shaped like a gorgeous feather with a octagon-cut emerald as focus-point, this Emerald, Diamond Gold Brooch with Yellow Sapphire is so exquisite that it can be compared with one of the sculptural masterpieces of the Roman baroque style, the ‘Ecstasy of Saint Teresa.’
The sculpture was inspired by a vision of Saint Teresa, which she described in a very visual, even sexual way. An angel plunged a golden spear into her heart, leaving her breathless and consumed with a spiritual pain so intense that she did not want it to end.
This brooch is the contemporary transformation of the sculpture found in the Cornaro Chapel, in Santa Maria della Vittoria, in Rome. The artist was Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
Why do we say this?
Bernini began by designing the chapel as the 'theatre' for his sculpture. Similarly, the Vintage-inspired Emerald, Diamond Gold Brooch also needs a setting, a background. That, of course, is you!
The ‘Ecstasy’ is floodlit by beams of natural light from a hidden window. The natural light mingles with the shine from a cluster of vertical bronze shafts behind the sculpture, shaped to bear a resemblance to the rays of the sun.

Santa Fe artist Mona Van Riper is known for her unique one of a kind jewelry. She is a favorite of collectors because of her unique designs and she chooses only the highest quality stones. Day of the Dead figures and skulls are among her favorite designs. She has been designing jewelry since 1976.
About the Artist
Mona Van Riper was raised in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico. She began silver-smithing at the Mabel Dodge Lujan House in Taos in 1976. Making and designing jewelry has been a constant part of her life ever since. Mona is most well-known for her elaborate and intricate buckles, whether with a western theme, crown, fleur-de-lis, heart or with her eponymous skulls. Most of the country’s finest buckle makers—often artisans who learned the skills from their fathers and grandfathers—ply their craft in remote locales, often in obscurity. Mona Van Riper fits that profile. She creates one-of-a-kind turquoise, 18-karat gold, and sterling silver buckles in a 10-by-10-foot utility room in her home located on a dirt road, miles outside of Santa Fe, N.M.
Mona’s early jewelry was heavy stamped Southwestern style made from hand-cast ingots and coins. Over the years her style has developed into a more sophisticated and contemporary look while maintaining her signature old-world flavor. In 1992 Mona introduced engraving into her work which has given her jewelry a broader appeal. Mona’s unique jewelry is made from sterling silver in combination with 18 karat gold overlays and engraving. She often uses rare and very high-grade custom cut turquoise in her pieces. Mixing precious and semi-precious stones also gives her jewelry a timeless look.

Very rare and beautiful perfume bottle, created in Paris France by Jean Louis Scherrer, back in the late 20th century. This exotic perfume bottle was made as a promotion for the launching of his famous Scherrer 2 perfume in 1986. Carefully crafted in the art deco style with skyscraper patterns, in solid sterling silver of .925/.999 with high polished finish. Fitted with a lid and a pistil to applicate the perfume and scents.
Weight: 130.95 Grams, (83.94 Dwt).
Measurements: 86 mm by 24 mm by 18 mm (3.40 x 0.94 x 0.71 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks, the silver assay mark, the maker's mark of SF inside a lozange cartouche, the edition number and signed, "JEAN LOUIS SCHERRER PARIS 925 Sterling #0202"
Edition: Number 0202 from 1000 pieces produced.
Jean-Louis Scherrer born in Paris in February. He was a Parisian fashion designer and couturier. Although he had name recognition and was known for his work, he is mainly noted for being the first couture designer to be sacked from their own-name label in 1992. Scherrer trained as a dancer at the Conservatoire de Paris until he injured his back, which put him out of action for three months. He then decided to focus on fashion design, and in 1956, joined Christian Dior as an assistant designer alongside Yves Saint Laurent. Following Dior's death in 1957, Scherrer worked under Saint Laurent, and then for Louis Féraud, before launching his own fashion house in 1962 on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré with the backing of Jacques Chabrol, a French millionaire. In the mid-1960s Scherrer had an agreement with the American department store Bergdorf Goodman to grant them exclusive rights to reproduce and resell his designs in the United States. His clients included Anne-Aymone Giscard d'Estaing, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Raquel Welch, who wore Scherrer animal-print dresses in the 1977 film L'Animal. By the 1980s, his work was known for its opulence and luxury, with many garments hand-beaded, embroidered and lavishly trimmed. About the Artist
Mona Van Riper was raised in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico. She began silver-smithing at the Mabel Dodge Lujan House in Taos in 1976. Making and designing jewelry has been a constant part of her life ever since. Mona is most well-known for her elaborate and intricate buckles, whether with a western theme, crown, fleur-de-lis, heart or with her eponymous skulls. Most of the country’s finest buckle makers—often artisans who learned the skills from their fathers and grandfathers—ply their craft in remote locales, often in obscurity. Mona Van Riper fits that profile. She creates one-of-a-kind turquoise, 18-karat gold, and sterling silver buckles in a 10-by-10-foot utility room in her home located on a dirt road, miles outside of Santa Fe, N.M.
Mona’s early jewelry was heavy stamped Southwestern style made from hand-cast ingots and coins. Over the years her style has developed into a more sophisticated and contemporary look while maintaining her signature old-world flavor. In 1992 Mona introduced engraving into her work which has given her jewelry a broader appeal. Mona’s unique jewelry is made from sterling silver in combination with 18 karat gold overlays and engraving. She often uses rare and very high-grade custom cut turquoise in her pieces. Mixing precious and semi-precious stones also gives her jewelry a timeless look.
