About the Item

Set of 2 antique sterling silver meat forks by George Adams of Chawner & Co of London, England, circa 1868, with monogram. Monogram appears to be W (on the back of the handles) George Adams was a well known English silversmith, by 1851 Chawner & Co was England's largest producer of high quality flatware. He also exhibited pieces in the Great Exhibition. These 2-tine forks are in the Bright Vine pattern, featuring a grape design adorning the handle. Measures approx 8 1/4" long, 1" wide across the tines. Weighs approx 174.8g, 112.4dwt Marked GA (George William Adams Chawner & Co makers mark) lion (indicates sterling silver) leopard (London city mark) n (1868 date mark) duty head Very nice condition, with some slight scratches and light tarnish. Will be packaged securely and shipped US Priority Mail with insurance. CL121024/17KCS
