We have never seen this model before by the legendary house of Waltham. The movement is entirely hand made and set with solid gold bushing for the jewels. Impressively the dial is done in Sterling Silver and the Roman Numerals are done is Solid Gold. The original hands, done as Breguet style Moon Hands still have their blued steel finish on them. The case on this is watch was made for Waltham by J. Depollier & Son. They were the finest case makers in the United States and this one is entirely hand constructed. Since this watch has been in a vault for 50 years it needs to be serviced. The price includes a factory quality service by our finest watchmaker.

Based on its serial numbers it predates 1925, making it perhaps more than 100 years old. Yet we just serviced it and functions is if it was brand new. This amazing watch is still in its original box and has never even been serviced (that means it must be serviced if you want to wear it). Everything is original on this watch including the spring bars and strap. The guarantee paper is in the box but it has the wrong number on it. I suspect that is maybe why it was never sold. One of the most respected names in American watch making, was the house founded by Edward Howard in Boston Massachusetts in 1858. Howard was an exceptional watchmaker who had worked originally for the Willard Clock Company. Willard was the premier American clock maker and advanced American horology. Howard’s exceptional designs and innovations helped establish America as a watchmaking capital along with the Waltham Watch Company. Howard’s creativity helped establish the principles of industrialization and standardized parts. Howards watches were rugged and very accurate as well. Their case designs were innovative as well. Howard watches were used by scientists and engineers in military and industry because they were rugged and dependable.
In 1903, the Howard Watch Company was acquired by the Keystone Watch Case Company. Keystone continued to produce Howard watches under the Howard brand name until 1935. By that time the great depression had taken its toll on all but the most robust watch companies. During the 1920’s Howard produced the 12-size caliber which was a beautifully finished watch that kept exceptional time.
