Aboriginal Painting by Makinti Napananka (1930-2011), Australia
Located in NICE, FR
ABOUT THE WORK Makinti primarily paints episodes from the Dreamtime, featuring the ancestral women, Kungka Kutjarra, drawing particular inspiration from motifs associated with the site of Lupulnga. Her artworks are characterized by sweeping waves that resemble slightly curved lines (symbolizing ceremonial hair-string skirts used in certain rituals) or ovals that occasionally assemble to form what appears to be a wall of cells. Some of her compositions combine both motifs, always in a cohesive tonal harmony dominated by ochres, oranges, pinks, and, in some pieces, purples. While the men of her generation adhered to a highly detailed style, Makinti's spontaneity and vigor set her apart in contemporary Aboriginal art. The artwork comes from an art center and possesses a registration number (05MN1626), with details provided on the back of the canvas. It is sold with a certificate of authenticity. ABOUT MAKINTI NAPANANGKA (1930-2011) Makinti Napanangka was born in 1930 in the Lake McDonald region. In 1972, she settled in Papunya at the time when the first group of male artists was formed. However, it wasn't until 1994 that women gained access to painting materials. She initiated her artistic career in Haasts Bluff and, in 1996, took advantage of the establishment of the new cooperative, Papunya Tula. Quickly, she gained significant renown. Presently, Makinti's artworks are highly sought after by collectors worldwide and are found in prominent private and public collections. Recognized as a leading artist from the Papunya Tula center, she was listed as one of the "50 Most Collectable Australian Artists" by the Australian Art Collector Magazine in 2003, 2004, and 2005. The director of the Papunya art center described her as "the best painter since Emily (Kngwarreye), with no living match in her painterly freedom, and her fearless blend of naive and sophisticated elements." She passed away in 2011. Awards received by this artist: 2011 - Appointed Member of the Order of Australia 2010 - Finalist, Western Australian Indigenous Art...

Aboriginal Painting 'Tingari Dreaming' by Ronnie Tjampitjinpa (1943-)
Located in NICE, FR
ABOUT THE WORK "RETINGARI DREAMING" The migration of the ancestors is depicted through interlocking squares in this artwork. These symbolic motifs narrate the journeys of the Tingari ancestors, who sculpted the terrains in the desert, infusing them with life. The subdued, warm tones evoke the ochre hues of the desert and the hills of Kintore, the community from which the artist hails. ABOUT RONNIE TJAMPITJINPA Ronnie Tjampitjinpa was born in 1943 in an almost uncharted region near Muyinga, Australia. He commenced painting only in the 1980s. Starting in 1970, he ardently advocated for Aboriginal rights, particularly for their return to their ancestral lands. Having played a significant political role, he chose to retire to his homeland in 2002, dedicating himself solely to painting. Often working in solitude, he isolates himself for several weeks in the desert to rejuvenate. Ronnie Tjampitjinpa's distinctive style is easily recognizable. The geometrical elements in his paintings captivate the viewer and reflect a territorial representation unique to Pintupi art, a region he traversed during his youth. His themes are diverse, encompassing Water Dreams, Fire Dreams, and a particular affinity for the Tingari cycles. Ronnie Tjampitjinpa stands as a prominent figure in contemporary Aboriginal art in Australia. He was listed as one of the "50 Most Collectable Australian Artists" by the Australian Art Collector Magazine in both 2001 and 2009. Awards received by the artist: 2004 - Finalist, 21st Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award, Darwin (Australia) 1995 - Highly commended recognition at the 20th Annual Fremantle Print Award (Australia) 1988 - Alice Springs Art...

Albert Chubac, Composition, Mixed-media on paper, Stamped, circa 1960, France. Measures: Height 1 m, width 70 cm, depth 1 cm. Albert Chubac was born in Geneva in 1920. After studying decorative art, then at the Beaux-Arts in Geneva, he obtained grants to travel to Italy, Algeria, Spain, Egypt and Greece, stages which will mark his work. He settled in 1964 on the Côte d ‘Azur in Aspremont in a very Spartan house, attracted by the light, the sun and the colors of nature. The year 1967 is the year of the establishment of the School of Nice. He will work and exhibit alongside Aman, César, Tinguely, Gilli, Ben, Rayse, etc ... In 1990, it was the consecration with the opening of MAMAC in Nice. Albert Chubac then becomes accessible to the general public. He will use solid primary colors, will develop modifiable structures and then develop the collages in three dimensions. Gradually, he broke away from his classical training and figuration to move towards abstraction through the encounters and influences of contemporary artists. Always in search of simplicity, He will radically limit the plastic means with a reduced palette, geometric shapes and simple gestures to concentrate on minimum conditions of possibility. His work, which lies between constructivism and geometric abstraction, is playful and imbued with the artist's joie de vivre. In 2004, following the major retrospective at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nice, he donated around one hundred works to the City of Nice. Albert Chubac died in 2008 in Tourrette-Levens, near Aspremont. Jean Da Milano, Painting, France, circa 2000
Located in Nice, Cote d' Azur
Jean Da Milano (1928-2017), painting, Creased paper, Signed lower right, circa 2000, France. Measures: Height 115 cm, Width 90 cm Jean Da Milano is an abstract painter from Nice who was cradled by the rich breeding ground of the School of Nice and its artists. Active from the 1960s to the 2008s, his works were forgotten and rediscovered by the HARTER Gallery, which today highlights his touch. According to Agnès Roux, Honorary Secretary for Culture, “Jean Da Milano is one of those modest painters who knew how to develop abstract painting alongside his contemporaries. In an infinite world, the Kinetic object on an astral background gradually transforms into a pictorial relief, where the painting falsely becomes painting and invisibly paper. The humility of its formats does not give the work the fullness it deserves. But the almighty gaze of the spectator engenders the feelings and sensations of a cosmogonic painting steeped in universality ". We indeed observe in his work an evolution which begins with an almost cosmic painting in the 70s, then what we could qualify as “implosions” in the 80s and finally, a real research on paper and pictorial relief. in the 2000s. According to Georges Braque "Everyone is a creator, the viewer is himself a creator, it is the way of seeing that gives life to the object. Jean Da Milano (1928-2017), Abstract composition, Oil on paper, Signed lower left, N°859-74, n° 492, 1974, France. Measures : Height 65,5 cm, Width 50 cm. Jean Da Milano is an abstract painter from Nice who was cradled by the rich breeding ground of the School of Nice and its artists. Albert Chubac, Painting, France, circa 1960
By Albert Chubac
Located in Nice, Cote d' Azur
Albert Chubac (1925-2008), Acrylic painting on cardboard, Stamped, France, circa 1960. Measures: Height 100 cm, width 140 cm. Bibliography: - Albert Chubac, MAMAC Nice, Cultures Nice Editions, 2004. - Albert Chubac: exhibition, Nice, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, January 29 - May 16, 2004. - Albert Chubac, Galerie Harter, 2013. - Albert Chubac, a lifetime of artist, Patrick Boussu and Cynthia Lemesle, South Art éditions, 2021. During the workshop auctions in Nice and Marseille, the Harter Gallery acquired the largest part of his work.
