This square format digital painting is reminiscent of a cloudy skyline overlooking the calm ocean on an overcast day. Drawing from the natural color palette of the earth and sand, browns, beiges, and creams come together in this simplistic abstract landscape. Subtle moments of pink, blue, and purple peak through the otherwise neutral composition giving the digital painting extra visual interest.
Artist Commentary:
This is an abstract painting that evokes the sense of a beach environment being slowly revealed as the outgoing has lowered the water level. The colors are earthly, calm and tranquil.
About the Artist:
Denise is originally from Missouri but has lived in Denver, Colorado for over twenty five years. Growing up, she never gave a lot of thought to creating art until her senior year in high school. At that time, she watched some painting shows on television and decided she wanted to learn to paint. She bought some oil paints, and began to teach herself.. She also got a few private lessons with a local artist. About ten years ago, she transitioned to water-soluble oil paints to minimize exposure to any harmful chemicals. She draws her inspiration for painting from nature and likes to paint landscapes. Since she is surrounded by the beauty of the mountains of Colorado, there is a lot of inspiration to draw upon. She also recently has begun branching out to abstract painting with acrylic paints and experimenting with various filters in digital graphics applications.
