An idyllic summer scene of a river glimpsed from a leafy river bank - more than likely the Seine as the artist lived and worked in Paris. Georges Moisaut (exhibiting early 20th Century) River landscape Signed and further inscribed on labels to the reverse. Oil on canvas 21½ x 15 inches without the frame 27 x 20 inches with the frame Exhibited: Société Artistique de Clichy, circa 1905 The artist lived and worked in Paris and exhibited in the city, including at the Société Artistique de Clichy, a group formed in the early 20th Century which appears to have been disbanded at the outbreak of the First World war. The artist's work is comparable to that of Henri Biva, providing a snapshot of the rural idyll enjoyed in the countryside beyond Paris.
