"Bramble, " Limited Edition Giclee Print, 30" x 30"
Located in Westport, CT
This abstract limited edition print by Elwood Howell features a cool, unique palette. Shapes that resemble thick foliage form a loose horizon line, with deep blue, violet, green, and specks of pink forming the bottom area of the piece. Above is a muted color that transitions out toward the edges to form the aesthetic of a glowing blue sky. An edition of 100, the limited edition giclee it is printed on canvas, and framed in a warm silver floater frame ready to hang. Limited Edition prints are printed with pigment ink on a Premium Fine Art Matte Canvas and designed to meet museum longevity requirements and ensure consistency. The artist's signature and edition number will be added to the giclee electronically when created. Each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity containing all information and retail price. Also, this framed giclee ships for free. Other floater frame options are available in silver, black, gold, and walnut. For additional sizes and alternate frame options or rolled, please contact us. Artist Statement and CV: Of his work, artist Elwood Howell says, "The greater body of my work is primary landscapes and seascapes of an imaginary nature created in the studio. Most works have a generally high horizon as a focal point to lure ones eye into the simple composition. The large area below the horizon down to the base of the canvas gives the viewer's eye freedom to roam the surface. This space gives the painting life much as soil nourishes the very roots of a tree. The imagery at the horizon gives a focal point and the expanse above serves as atmosphere to set the mood. This has been a format I have used for over forty years and it still intrigues me. In the process of correlating the colors, values and markings, with the fore mentioned ink, paint, charcoal, pencil and even by sanding, a visual conversation begins between the painting and the painter. Thus, by adjusting again and again, from hints given by previously applied paint, sometimes even an abrupt and complete change over the earlier endeavors is commanded. The discourse will probably continue forward, just as communications sometimes do with people, for new thoughts can hoover about and over time a need is created for further deliberation. Thus some "completed" works have required changes years later. Sometimes discussions, of whatever nature, never seem to be finished. When painting is viewed down the road, by another person, maybe they, too, will encounter a visual voice, which probably will be of a totally different nature than has been envisioned. However, and hopefully, at that time some connection will take root and a soul will be nourished.” Awards • Honorable Mention, Guild Hall, East Hampton, NY (2003) • Best Abstract, Guild Hall, East Hampton, NY (1982) • David G. Lyon Award, New England Exhibition, Silvermine Guild, New Canaan, CT (1982) • Shared 1st prize, Parrish Art Museum Annual, Southampton, NY (1981) • Reader's Digest Award, 31"t New England Exhibition, Silvermine Guild, New Canaan, CT (1981) • 1st Prize, VII Long Island Painters, Guild Hall, East Hampton, NY (1975) • Judges Award, 22nd Annual Exhibit, Parrish Art Museum, Southampton, NY (1975) • Award of excellence, 20th Annual Exhibit, Heckscher Museum, Huntington, NY (1975) • 2nd Place, Artist Guild of Chicago & Artist Guild Purchase Award, Annual Watercolor Show (1974) • Merit Award. Danzig
Located in San Francisco, CA
This artwork titled "Danzig" c.1920, is a color etching on paper by Austrian artist Luigi Kasimir, 1881-1962. It is hand signed in pencil by the artist's estate at the lower center. The plate mark (image) size is 16 x 20 inches, framed size is 26.5 x 30 inches. Custom framed in a wooden silver frame, with light brown matting and dark brown fillets . It is in Excellent condition. About the artist. Luigi Kasimir was born in 1881 at Pettau, today Ptuj, Slovenia, then a part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. He inherited his talent from his ancestors; his grandfather was a painter and a poet, and his father an officer in the Habsburg army, who later became a professional painter. Kasimir attended the Vienna Academy of Art where he studied under Wilhelm Unger, who introduced him to the technique of the coloured etching, and also to his future wife, the artist Tanna Hoernes.[1] He died in 1962 in Grinzing, a suburb of Vienna.Kasimir was among the first to develop the technique of the coloured etching. Before this, prints were usually hand-coloured with the colour being applied in a casual, haphazard manner. Kasimir would first create a sketch usually in pastel, he then transferred the design on as many as four to six plates, printing one after the other and applying the colour on the plate, all done by hand. Kasimir is mainly famous for his etchings, but he also produced some oil painting, as well as some pastels. One of his favourite genres was the landscape, or veduta. He demonstrated a predisposition street scenes, and tourist landmarks. He depicted places from all over Europe, mainly Italy, Austria, and Germany. He also travelled to the United States to do a series of etchings of famous sights ranging from urban landmarks such as New York City skyscrapers, to natural wonders like Yosemite Valley. Luigi Kasimir’s etchings...

La Salute, Venice - Original Etching - Christopher Ganz
Located in Chicago, IL
Christopher Ganz La Salute, Venice 2015 intaglio on chine colle, ed. II/VI 11h x 7w in 27.94h x 17.78w cm Frame: 21.25h x 18.25w in CG0035 -ARTIST STATEMENT- I depict my person in multiplicity with different selves representing dramatis personae. My likeness is both implicit and symbolic in the portrayal of my narrative; the drama involved in creating art and the artist’s role in society. I use realism to invite the viewer into mysterious inner worlds that are layered reflections of the outer. Dehumanizing environments are imbued with art historical references as a critique of power structures. The artist is an Everyman who is at odds with society and his self. Visually my work is a celebration of society’s dark undercurrents and its overlooked absurdities. I use charcoal and printmaking media as their tenebrous values add a fitting metaphor. The nuances of light and shadow seduce viewers into a world their better judgment would have them avoid. This provokes a sense of disquietude that causes viewers to assess our world through the austerity of a colorless, yet not humorless, light. -BIO- Christopher Ganz grew up in Northeast Ohio and from early on had a fertile imagination and an interest in art. Christopher's artistic education truly began at the University of Missouri, where his love of the human form led to many figure drawing classes and his exposure to the wonders of printmaking. Christopher's then went onto graduate school at Indiana University and a summer abroad program in Italy was a dream realized. Christopher then grasped charcoal with a renewed vigor and large, sfumato-laden drawings ensued. Christopher's artistic influences are many; from a seminal exposure to Dore's engravings of the Divine Comedy, to Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Goya, and up to Lucian Freud, Mark Tansey, and Michael Mazur. Christopher is now an associate professor of printmaking and drawing at Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne. Christopher drawings are represented by Ann Nathan Gallery in Chicago, and he shows his prints across the nation. -CV- EDUCATION MFA 2001 Printmaking Indiana University-Bloomington BFA 1995 Drawing and Printmaking University of Missouri-Columbia TEACHING/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 2002-13 Associate Professor, Printmaking and Drawing Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), Fort Wayne, IN 2002 Adjunct Professor: Lithography (instructor of record) Indiana University-Bloomington 1998-00 Associate Instructor: Beginning Drawing (instructor of record) Indiana University-Bloomington 1998 Artist’s Assistant, Assisted Distinguished Professor Emeritus Rudy Pozzatti in the production of an intaglio edition, Bloomington, IN SOLO OR SMALL GROUP EXHIBITIONS 2013 Multiplicities: Drawings and Prints by Christopher Ganz, Franklin College, Franklin, IN Feb. 5 – Feb. 21 2012 Dramatis Personae: Drawings and Prints by Christopher Ganz, University of South Carolina-Columbia, Jan 16. – Feb. 16, 2012 2011 Christopher Ganz; Prints and Drawing Hendrix College, Hendrix, Arkansas, March 5 - 18 2009 Fall Season Exhibition, six drawings displayed Ann Nathan Gallery, Chicago. "Pillory, Charing Cross" by Rowlandson from "The Microcosm of London"
Located in Alamo, CA
"Pillory, Charing Cross" is an illustration (Plate 62) from "The Microcosm of London", published in London in 1809 by R Ackermann's Repository of Arts. The scene was created by one of the most famous British satirists and caricaturists of the late 18th and early 19th centuries' Georgian Period, Thomas Rowlandson, who drew the figures, while Augustus Charles Pugin drew the architecture. The plate was then created by Hill, Stadler and Bluck using a combination of aquatint and etching and was then hand colored with watercolor. Scenes illustrated in "The Microcosm of London" gives an accurate and often comical view of everyday life in London during the Regency Period of the early 19th century. While Pugin’s excellent architectural drawings capture the size and shape of the exterior as well as the interior of London’s principal buildings, Thomas Rowlandson’s insightful and often whimsical and satirical view of the city's inhabitants depicts the color and vitality of the late Georgian society, both rich and poor alike. This print depicts the "Pillory, Charing Cross", where criminals were brought and placed on display while secure in the stocks, as are seen in this print. A crowd is present in the square jeering at the prisoners. A statue of Charles I on horseback stands atop a very large pillar to the right. Shops with apartments are seen on the left. Young wealthy people frolic around and on a carriage on the right in front of the statue of King...

Manarola Multi Jump (framed) large scale photograph of Mediterranean beach scene
Located in San Francisco, CA
large format photograph of summer beach scene along Cinque Terre coast by iconic Italian photographer Massimo Vitali, renowned for his grand scale topographical observations of the rites and rituals of modern leisure Manarola (2020) 61.25” x 81.68” / 155.60 cm x 207.46 cm limited edition of 6 + 2AP (signed, titled and dated on certificate of authenticity) original archival photography print with diasec (acrylic glass) face mount in contemporary white lacquered gallery frame Each limited edition original Massimo Vitali photograph is printed in Italy under artist supervision in strictly limited edition (6 + 2AP) , signed/titled/dated upon final inspection and expertly framed at renowned European art framing facility About the artist: Massimo Vitali was born in Como, Italy, in 1944. He studied photography at the London College of Printing, in the 1970s initially working as a photojournalist, but at the beginning of the 80s a growing mistrust in the belief that photography had an absolute capacity to reproduce the subtleties of reality led to a change in his career path. Vitali worked in cinematography for film and television before beginning a fine art practice in 1995. Over the next two decades, he would gain recognition for his highly detailed, epic-scale panoramas — sociopolitical observations of the natural habitat of humankind at leisure. Vitali’s iconic series of beach panoramas, captured from a distance with an elevated large-format camera platform, began in the light of drastic political changes in Italy. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance and Old Flemish masters, in which the central space is fully exploited and the urban or natural landscape becomes the background, Vitali’s photographs grasp the viewer by capturing highly detailed observances of the recreational habitats of modern civilization. Vitali’s work has been collected in six monographs: Beach and Disco, Natural Habitats, Landscapes With Figures, Swimming Pools, Short Stories and Entering A New World. Additionally, his work is represented in the world’s major museums, including the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, the Fond National Art Contemporaine in Paris, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Musée National d’Art Moderne in Paris, the Fondation Cartier in Paris and the Museo Luigi Pecci in Prato. Massimo Vitali lives and works in Lucca (Italy) and in Berlin (Germany). __________________________ SOLO EXHIBITIONS 2021 'PienoVuoto' Forte di Belvedere, Florence 2020 'Human Constellations' Museo Ettore Fico, Turin 2019 Massimo Vitali: Short Stories' Mazzoleni, London 2018 'Coastal Colonies' Spiral, Tokyo 2017 ‘Disturbed Coastal Systems’ Benrubi Gallery (New York, USA) 2016 ‘Landscapes with Figures’ Guido & Schoen Arte Contemponania (Genoa, Italy) 2016 ‘Massimo Vitali’ Crown Gallery (Knokke-Zoute, Belgium) 2016 ‘Massimo Vitali’ Ronchini Gallery (London, UK) 2015 ‘New Prints’ Hilger Next (Vienna, Austria) 2014 ‘Massimo Vitali’ Studio La Citta (Verona, Italy) 2014 ‘Into The White’ Erich Lindenberg Art Foundation (Porza, Switzerland) 2014 ‘Sempre più pallide. Process Landscape
Located in San Francisco, CA
Artist: Tom Marioni – American (1937- ) Title: Process Landscape 1998 Year: 1998 Medium: Color spit bite aquatint Image size: 15.75 x 10 inches. Paper size: 20 x 16 inches Framed size: 21.75 x 17.75 inches Signature: Signed, dated lower right Edition: 50. This one: 24/50. Published by: Crown Point Press Printed by: Paul Mullowney Condition: Excellent Frame: Framed in maple frame and plexiglas. Frame in fair to good condition with some small scratches. Tom Marioni was born in 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio, attended the Cincinnati Art Academy, and in 1959 moved to San Francisco, where he still lives. His first sound work, One Second Sculpture, 1969, was celebrated in the 2005 Lyon Biennial as presaging the work of many artists today who use sound and duration as subjects. His first museum show was in 1970 at the Oakland Museum of California. Titled “The Act of Drinking Beer with Friends is the Highest Form of Art,” it was an early example of social art as a sculpture action. Over the years, Marioni was invited to repeat the work in various contexts around the world. In 1970 Marioni founded the Museum of Conceptual Art (MOCA), which he described at the time as “a large-scale social work of art.” Until the museum closed in 1984, he organized many groundbreaking shows, including “Sound Sculpture As” in 1970. MOCA has entered history as one of the first alternative art spaces. Marioni had one-person shows in several significant venues for early conceptual art, among them the Richard Demarco Gallery in Edinburgh in 1972 and Gallery Foksal in Warsaw in 1975. In 1977 he had a solo show, “The Sound of Flight,” at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. He has done installation/performance works at the Whitechapel Gallery in London (1972), the Institute of Contemporary Art in London (1973), the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris (1980), and the Folkwang Museum in Essen, Germany (1982), among other museums. He has produced sound works for radio stations KPFA in Berkeley and WDR in Cologne, Germany. In 1996 he organized The Art Orchestra and the group performed at the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco. Marioni was included in “For Eyes and Ears” (1980) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, “Live to Air” (1982) at the Tate Gallery in London, and “From Sound to Image” (1985) at the Stuttgart Staatsgalerie in Germany. His work was shown in “Out of Actions: Between Performance and the Object” (1998) at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and “The Third Mind: American Artists Contemplate Asia,” (2009) at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Drawing is central to Marioni’s art, and in 1999 he had a drawing retrospective, with a catalog, at the Mills College Art Museum in Oakland. In 2006 the Contemporary Art Center in Cincinnati presented a survey of his work and published a catalog. Marioni is the author of Beer, Art and Philosophy, 2003, a memoir, also Writings on Art 1969-1999, and Fabliaux Tom Marioni Fairy Tales. He was editor/designer of VISION magazine published by Crown Point Press, 1975-1981. Issues were titled “California,” “Eastern Europe,” “New York City,” “Word Of Mouth,” (phonograph records) and “Artist’s Photographs,” and published prints, since 1974. Tom Marioni received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1981 and three grants from the National Endowment for the Arts during the 1970s. His work is in the collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Stadtische Kunsthalle in Mannheim, Germany, the Pompidou Center in Paris, and other museums. He is represented by the Anglim Gilbert Gallery...
