Fleurs de Mousse - Vintage Adv Lithograph by L. Metlicovitz - 1898
Located in Roma, IT
Image dimensions: 26x18.8 cm. Fleurs de Mousse is an amazing colored lithograph on cardboard, realized by the Italian artist and one of the fathers of the modern Italian poster art, Leopoldo Metlicovitz (Trieste, 1868 - Ponte Lambro, 1944). Printed by Officine Ricordi, Milan in 1898, the advertising manifesto for the Fleurs de Mousse fragrance is inspired by the art nouveau graphics of the master Adolf Hohenstein. This is a wonderful vintage advertising poster for the "Fleurs de Mousse, le grand parfum à la mode", monogrammed on lower right margin and with the inscriptions printed on lower margin, under the image: "L. Metlicovitz / Off. G. Ricordi and C. Milano / 90 x 125. In excellent conditions, except for some light abrasions of the paper on the right and lower margins. This modern original poster shows the vintage Art Nouveau taste and the Metlicovitz's full mastery of the artistic medium, has the dignity of an object of art to collect and could be a colorful and fashionable piece for your sophisticated home furniture. Leopoldo Metlicovitz (Trieste, 1868 - Ponte Lambro, 1944) The Italian painter, illustrator, theatrical and advertising scenographer is considered one of the precursors of Futurism and, together with Leonetto Cappiello, Adolf Hohenstein, Giovanni Maria Mataloni and Marcello Dudovich, one of the fathers of modern Italian poster art. He began his artistic career at the age of fourteen working as an apprentice in a typography in Udine, where he learned the technique of lithography. Here he is noticed by Giulio Ricordi, owner of the namesake Officine Grafiche, who invites him to Milan to work as a lithographer. In 1892, after collaborating with Tensi, a photographic product company, he returned to Ricordi as technical director. At the same time, he entered the theatrical environment and began his career as a set designer and costume designer at La Scala. The Mele di Napoli tailoring company entrusted him with the task of advertising his clothes and in 1906, on the occasion of the great Universal Exposition in Milan, he won the competition for the fair poster, establishing himself also as a poster artist and then collaborating with several magazines as an illustrator. For Ricordi he takes care of the illustrations of calendars, opera librettos, postcards. Other famous images created by him are those for the poster of the film Cabiria, a blockbuster of the silent film scripted by Gabriele D'Annunzio, and the trademark that is still used today by the Brothers Branca Distilleries, producers of Fernet Branca...

1932 original poster after A.M. Cassandre for Dubo Dubon Dubonnet
Located in PARIS, FR
The 1932 original poster after A.M. Cassandre for Dubo Dubon Dubonnet is one of the most iconic pieces of advertising art from the early 20th century. Designed by the renowned French artist Adolphe Mouron Cassandre, this poster is a striking example of modernist commercial design that revolutionized the way products were promoted in the 1930s. The playful, rhythmic slogan “Dubo Dubon Dubonnet” has become synonymous with the drink, elevating Dubonnet to a cultural symbol of France’s post-war glamour. Dubonnet, originally created in 1846 as a medicinal tonic, was transformed into one of the most celebrated aperitifs in France by the time the 1932 poster...

Original poster designed by Bernard Villemot, the most "painter" of French poster artists, for the Swiss shoe brand, Bally. Villemot's style is clearly recognizable, thanks to the elegance and delicacy of his feminine silhouettes The majority of collaborations between Bally and the famous French poster artist were usually aimed at women only, whereas this campaign has the particularity of being mixed. 1980 AfterJoan Miro 'Miro's Posters
Located in Brooklyn, NY
This is a hardcover cloth-bound book with a dust jacket titled "Aidez L'Espagne", authored by J. Corredor-Matheos and published by Chartwell Books, Inc. in 1980. The text is presented in English, translated by Anita Roberts, making it accessible to a broader international audience. The book offers an in-depth exploration of Joan Miró's iconic 1937 anti-fascist poster, Aidez L'Espagne ("Help Spain"), created during the Spanish Civil War. Miró’s poster, with its urgent, raw visual energy, became a powerful symbol of resistance, solidarity, and the struggle for freedom. This volume contextualizes the work within both Miró's artistic evolution and the broader political landscape of the time. The book is housed in its original dust jacket, which shows minor wear and a small tear, though the overall condition of the copy is described as very good. 1951 original second edition movie poster "La Belle et la Bête" by Jean Cocteau
Located in PARIS, FR
The timeless tale of "La Belle et la Bête" has captivated audiences for centuries, with its origins dating back to Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve's 1740 novel. In 1946, the visionary filmmaker Jean Cocteau brought this beloved story to life in his first feature film adaptation. His cinematic masterpiece enchanted viewers with its breathtaking sets, lavish costumes, and groundbreaking visual effects. The film, starring Jean Marais and Josette Day, has since become a cherished gem of French cinema, with its enduring legacy living on in both animation and live-action adaptations. In 2017, the tale was reimagined once again in a live-action format. However, in the realm of film poster art, the 1951 original second edition by Jean-Denis Malclès stands as a true work of art. Jean-Denis Malclès, an accomplished French artist, was known for his expertise in various artistic mediums. From opera set designs to book illustrations, his passion for painting shone through. His lifelong friend and renowned filmmaker, Jean Cocteau, commissioned Malclès to create a poster that would capture the essence of his fantasy romance film, "La Belle et la Bête." Malclès' foray into the world of film poster design was a departure from his usual artistic pursuits, but it resulted in a work of sheer magnificence. Malclès' poster for "La Belle et la Bête" is nothing short of magnificent. It exquisitely captures the magical and surreal imagery that defines the film. The central imagery depicts a stunning representation of Belle and the Beast, with the Beast in a regal pose as Belle gently embraces him. The use of color, shadow, and light in the poster evokes the enchanting atmosphere of the film. It is a true testament to Malclès' ability to convey complex emotions and themes with simplicity and elegance, much like the film itself. Jean-Denis Malclès' poster for "La Belle et la Bête" is widely regarded as one of the most iconic and definitive film posters of the 20th century. Its ability to capture the essence of Cocteau's cinematic masterpiece while retaining its artistic integrity is nothing short of remarkable. The poster has endured through the decades and remains a testament to the enduring power of art to evoke the magic of cinema. In conclusion, Jean-Denis Malclès' 1951 original second edition movie poster for "La Belle et la Bête" is a testament to the everlasting appeal of both the film and the story. Malclès' exceptional artistic talent was instrumental in creating a work of art that transcends the boundaries of mere film promotion...

Located in PARIS, FR
This striking 1982 vintage poster, designed by Razzia, was created to promote the Paris Posters exhibition at the Musée de l’Affiche et de la Publicité during the summer (Été 82). Featuring a bold and graphic collage-style composition, the artwork embodies the dynamic energy of 1980s design. In this piece, he juxtaposes a stylized black-and-white Eiffel Tower, a monochrome portrait of a woman, and an accordion transformed into the Arc de Triomphe, all set against a dramatic black background with vivid color accents. The use of cutout-style imagery and neon-inspired typography reflects the postmodern aesthetic of the early 1980s, capturing the bold creativity of the era. The vibrant contrast of yellow, red, and blue highlights adds to the poster’s visual impact, making it a standout example of contemporary French graphic design.
