"Transcendent", Frederick Hart, Acrylic Sculpture, 19x11x9 in., 96/350, white
Located in Dallas, TX
"Transcendent" Dimensions: 19" x 11" x 9" Medium: Clear Acrylic Resin Edition 96/350 Frederick Hart's 1991 “Transcendent” lucite sculpture is imbued with a truly sublime presence. Female and male figures emerging from the Lucite seem to appear and disappear within the work. This ghostly effect is created through Hart’s unique process of embedment, which involves casting one acrylic work within another. It is a technique the artist patented in 1982, marking the end of a decade of constant experimentation and progression and the beginning of a period of precise refinement. Consistent with his unique poetic vision, the inner, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual forces dominate the work. Imbued with a distinct sense of grace, this piece is a testament to Hart’s remarkable technical abilities and devotion to the craft. Frederick Hart's "Transcendent" is signed by the artist and includes a gallery certificate of authenticity. It is from an edition of 350 (+ 60 AP) and the current gallery retail price for the piece is over $40,000. About Frederick Hart As one of America’s greatest representational artists, Frederick Hart left a lasting and unique mark in the world of modern sculpture. Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1943, he studied at the University of South Carolina and after protesting alongside black students during the Civil rights movement, he moved to Washington D.C. to continue his studies at the Corcoran School of Art. Fascinated with the human figure and the classical approach, he started developing his career in 1966 as a stone carver apprentice at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. Leaving the Cathedral in 1971, Hart started his own studio practice but had little success in the first years. In 1974, he was awarded the project by the Cathedral to create a contemporary interpretation of The Creation, an event that would change his life. Soon, Hart’s career took a turn for the better, and in the upcoming decades, he rose to national prominence, becoming a government art advisor in 1985 and receiving the prestigious Henry Hering...

Publisher GKM. Free shipment worldwide. Foundry Bocquel. Edition of 100 ex. Arman wrote, “The bow on the strings releases an explosion of sounds,” in the book Trio à cordes published by GKM Siwert Bergström nearly twenty years ago. The words are his own. The book is a tender homage to music and expresses the artist’s predilection for the tones of violin, cello and double bass. Lyrically orchestrated poems are conflated with ingenious detail images: multi-coloured violins and a delicately painted cello are but two of the motifs drawn against the straight lines of the score. The first steps towards collaboration with GKM Siwert Bergström came with an exhibition in Malmö, when Arman staged a “happening” in Malmö Concert Hall. This was followed by several exhibitions in Malmö, at the Stockholm Art...

Steven Wolfe Original Bronze Bookends, Ed. 2/3
Located in Larchmont, NY
Steven Wolfe (American, 1955-2016) Untitled (Book Bookends), 1990 Bronze 6 1/4 x 7 x 4 inches Stamped: SW 1990 2/3 For more than two decades, Steve Wolfe (1955–2016) created sculptures and drawings of astounding craft and visual presence. Wolfe re-created worn books and used records, primarily from the 1960s and 1970s, that influenced his own personal and artistic sensibilities. Working in the tradition of trompe l’oeil, Wolfe created pieces that quite literally “fool the eye” on first inspection. Using a variety of materials and processes, including oil, acrylic, screen printing, lithography, modeling paste, canvas, wood and aluminum, Wolfe sculpted and painted precise and exacting three-dimensional replicas of books and records that possess a personal significance. Iconic titles include Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, Dostoyevsky’s Notes From Underground, Alfred Barr’s Cubism and Abstract Art and The Beatles’ Revolver...

Rush Limbaugh (hair parted in center, mouth open)
Located in Milwaukee, WI
31" in height roughly 12-15" wide Ceramic Steven Kemenyffy (born 1943) is an American ceramic artist living and working in Pennsylvania. He is most recognized for his contributions to the development of the American ceramic raku tradition. He has served as a Professor of Ceramic Art at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (formerly Edinboro State College) since 1969. He Has retired from teaching, but continues to produce artwork at his home studio in McKean, Pennsylvania. Kemenyffy is often characterized in regard to his contributions to American experimental ceramics of the late 1960s and early 1970s. More specifically, Kemenyffy’s contributions to American raku techniques are often cited. Kemenyffy has stated that his interest in raku came out of practical considerations: “We [Steven and Susan] were doing a variety of workshops in a variety of different media. Raku was always an official way of making pieces in a short period of time…In raku it seems to compress all the firings into one.” Kemenyffy, himself, describes his early work as “Biomorphic forms alluding to old ceramic traditions such as tiles, vases, and containers.” These works were often in excess of six feet tall and many times included mixed media elements. In 1974, Kemenyffy wrote about the work he was producing; “For several years now, my work has dealt with certain formal considerations. Chief among these is using clay in such a way as to crystallize the moment and permanentize the impermanent. These have been among the primary concerns of all potters since the earliest times.” Today, Kemenyffy continues his pursuit of biomorphic imagery and themes. He writes, “Personally I am most challenged by the business of transforming porous organics into porcelain.” For much of Kemenyffy’s career, he has worked in tandem with his wife, Susan Hale Kemenyffy. In 1987 Susan stated about their collaborative works: “Steven is the [sculptor], I am the drawer. These works would not exist if it weren’t for the sculpture; if it weren’t for the clay. The clay entity comes first and my drawings come second.” James Paul Thompson further clarifies this relationship (as observed in 1987): “Steven Kemenyffy uses patterns as a point of departure for his work, while Susan Kemenyffy...

Edition of 50 Jane DeDecker’s energetic and dynamic bronze sculptures serve as a reflection of her own life experiences and those of her closely-knit family. Her twelve nieces and nephews are the primary source of her inspiration, though DeDecker’s sculptures are not portraits. In fact, her loose style leaves her viewers with room for interpretation, so as to see their own lives within her sculptures. This imprecision, combined with her unique ability to capture specific moments to which each viewer can relate on a personal level, regardless of age, give DeDecker’s work a timeless quality that spans generations. Yukio Yamamoto Honami Ceramic, Wood Fired in Noborigama Kiln 1990 Approx. 27 x 9 x 9 in COA provided Comes with original papers Ref.: 924802-1012 Yukio Yamamoto was born in the Ako district of Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, in 1925. In 1953, he spent a year as a research student at the Tanabe class of the Department of Ceramics at Kyoto Institute of Technology. Yukio studied the history of pottery of the past centuries of this well-known Hemiji Castle domain. He would also research kiln designs through fieldwork as his thesis project. By 1954, he built his first Noborigama chambered climbing kiln in Tenjin-Cho, Himeji City, teaching the old-world firing process classes. This would become the first step in Yamamoto’s revival of the Tozan style of Anagama and Noborigama down-draft style wood-fired kilns. In 1600, the kiln process had been at its height and had mainly provided wares to Himeji Castle. As an artist, he typically worked in ash-covered high-fired unglazed ceramics...

Red Grooms (born Charles Rogers Grooms on June 7, 1937) is an American multimedia artist best known for his colorful pop-art constructions depicting frenetic scenes of modern urban life. Grooms was given the nickname "Red" by Dominic Falcone (of Provincetown's Sun Gallery) when he was starting out as a dishwasher at a restaurant in Provincetown and was studying with Hans Hofmann. Grooms was born in Nashville, Tennessee during the middle of the Great Depression. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, then at Nashville's Peabody College. In 1956, Grooms moved to New York City, to enroll at the New School for Social Research. A year later, Grooms attended a summer session at the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts in Provincetown, Massachusetts. There he met experimental animation pioneer Yvonne Andersen, with whom he collaborated on several short films. Grooms follows in the tradition of William Hogarth and Honoré Daumier, who were canny commentators on the human condition. In 1969, Peter Schjeldahl compared Grooms to Marcel Duchamp, because both embodied "a movement of one man that is open to everybody." In the spring of 1958, Grooms, Yvonne Andersen and Lester Johnson each painted twelve-foot by twelve-foot panels, which they erected with telephone poles on a parking lot adjacent an amusement park in Salisbury, MA. Inspired by artist-run spaces such as New York's Hansa Gallery and Phoenix, and Provincetown's Sun Gallery, Grooms and painter Jay Milder opened the City Gallery in Grooms' second-floor loft in the Flatiron District. When Phoenix refused to show Claes Oldenburg, Grooms and Milder dropped out of Phoenix and City Gallery presented Oldenberg's first New York exhibition, as well as that of Jim Dine. Other artists who showed at City Gallery include Stephen Durkee, Mimi Gross (daughter of Chaim Gross and Red grooms wife), Bob Thompson, Lester Johnson, and Alex Katz.
