Modern Genesi Circular Ceramic Fountain White Crackle Blue
Located in monza, Monza and Brianza
The most elegant of the Genesi fountains, it's a pleasure to the eyes and to the ears. The Raku elements let the water flow perpetually from the tallest to the smallest recipient and finally into the large vessel creating a soothing sound while the ripples on the water will create a slow game with the bottom of the large container. The water that flows into different vessels symbolises life and is a metaphor for no one is untouched by what is around him, and that everything is connected. This fountain can donate any interior a relaxing corner and repose to the mind of the listener...

Japanese Meiji Period Gold Cobalt Blue Porcelain Charger, circa 1880
Located in Takarazuka, JP
Exquisite Japanese late-19th century Imari Meiji period (circa 1880) signed porcelain charger in iron-red, cobalt blue and green. It showcases three panels with floral pattern on a dramatic gold background with shishi lions strolling. The panels are set against a stunning cobalt blue background adorned with generous gold details. The three small circles around the rim showcase plum blossom, pine and bamboo patterns, together they create a stunning auspicious “sho-Chiku-bai”. This stunning contrast creates a beautiful scene that invite the viewer to get closer to explore the details. The reverse side is decorated with underglaze cobalt blue hand-painting with the artist signature at the center.  The late father of the collector of this exquisite pair, who operated one of the leading kilns in the historic Imari-Arita region of Japan, travelled extensively to Europe in the early 1960s with a mission that he led, to purchase and bring back to Japan antique ceramics...

Each vase has a baluster open necked shape and has been hand painted in an Imari design with varying shades of under-glaze cobalt blue, with over-glaze burnt orange, salmon and grey enamels. The decoration alternates around the central section with many flowers, buildings, fences and other motifs. The quality of the painting is high and there are border designs around the vases and the lids. There are no marks to the base. Overall a very beautiful pair of Japanese vases. Annamese Blue and White Porcelain Brushwasher Held by Parrot
Located in Atlanta, GA
Blue and white Annamese porcelain brush washer encircled by a parrot. Recovered from the wreck of a 15th century ship off the coast of Hoi An, among a group of sunken porcelain known as the Hoi An Hoard, found 230 feet below the surface of the water. Typical of the Hoi An pieces, the brush washer has a zoomorphic form, decorated with pale cobalt blue and exhibits the signature chalky, slightly ivory white body with a fine glaze. Through very few strokes, the painter evokes a very large personality for a small bird, exhibiting an almost child-like delightfulness. The bird is sharp-eyed and retains a vaguely bemused expression as its hooked beak pushes in the edge of the bowl. The designs on its wing are free, direct and supple. In good condition besides the fading characteristic of shipwreck porcelain...

Antique, New and Vintage Asian Ceramics

With their rich and diverse history, antique, new and vintage Asian ceramics offer colorful and sophisticated ways to add flair to any space.

Japanese pottery dates back at least 13,000 years to the Jōmon period. Pieces from the Late Jōmon era display a rope-cord pattern encircling a pot or jug. During the Muromachi period, potters created simple bowls and utensils frequently used in tea ceremonies and were made as both functional and aesthetic objects.

Ceramics made during Japan’s Meiji period, from 1868 to 1912, reflected an explosion of artistic expression propelled by new access to international trade. Details became more intricate and refined, and colors were enhanced with new glazing practices.

Chinese porcelain, meanwhile, is often identified by its shape. Each reign and dynasty had specific shapes and styles that were encouraged by the imperial ruler. During the Song dynasty, for instance, there were four dominant types of ceramic vase shapes: plum-shaped, pear-shaped, cong-shaped (tall and square) and double-gourd.

Chinese ceramics that were made during the Qing dynasty were demonstrative of an expanded artistic expression, with more delicate shapes and a focus on intricate detailing. The shapes of ceramics from this era are thinner, taller and have subtle features like a gentle flare, such as on the mallet-shaped vase.

Later, the 17th- and 18th-century interior design trend of chinoiserie brought Asian paintings and screens, textiles and other art and furniture from the continent into many European homes.

Explore an extensive range of antique, new and vintage Asian ceramics on 1stDibs to find the perfect piece for your home.
