A Chinese antique elm wood bedside cabinet from the early 20th century, with double doors, two drawers, iron hardware and weathered patina. Created in China during the early years of the 20th century, this elm wood bedside cabinet features a rectangular distressed top with recessed panel in its center, sitting above two petite doors fitted with iron hardware made of an oblique latch connected to two circular backplates. These doors open to reveal a distressed interior convenient to store items. Two drawers below, fitted with ring pulls on circular backplates, complete the ensemble. Adorned with a carved apron in the front, the cabinet is raised on four straight feet. The sides and back present simple panels and the ensemble boasts a nicely weathered patina. These large doors originated from Shanxi province, China, and are approx. 100-120 years old. Made of Elm & Pine, the most unique part about these doors are the many signs that are affixed on it, do note that although the doors are antique, these signs are added much later on.
Besides the actual door number and road name, the others are the many accolades that this family has earned. Starting from the red plate on the left, this was given by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government. The Chinese words translate into "family of glory", this was to given to the household as a member of the family had retired from the military, to recognise his contribution to the country; it could also had been given to the family if the soldier was sacrificed during his service. Description: Very well constructed with six small drawers and three large drawers, that can be open from both sides, four double open doors compartments ladder cabinet with natural finish.??This beautiful ladder cabinet features 3 pieces put together with both side opening. Both sides are finished. This ladder cabinet was made from solid wood aged about 1900 - 1940's with natural finished and in the traditional Chinese style. There are some drawers, displays and wine rack inside so you can store a lot of things inside. All door panels are removable allowing you to store a large item. Because this cabinet is open both sides, you can use it as a room divider or entertainment center. It is solid and sturdy.
