About the Item

Just a stone’s throw from our office stands the campus of La Doua in Villeurbanne — a major site of French modernist architecture. While much of the university has been renovated over the years, erasing traces of its original façade design, we’re fortunate to still encounter remarkable pieces that once shaped its architectural identity. Among them: a large façade panel designed by Jean Prouvé in the 1960s. This panel once framed a sliding window on one of the campus buildings, a testament to Prouvé’s vision of modular, functional, and industrial design. Crafted in embossed aluminum and manufactured by C.I.M.T. – Jean Prouvé, it was produced by Les Ateliers Prouvé around 1960. Each panel bears the unique patina of time — subtle variations that speak to its history and use. Provenance: Campus de la Doua, Villeurbanne, France. Several panels available.
