Unique Bowl 6 by Matthew Fisher

$2,278.91

About

Unique bowl 6 by Matthew Fisher Unique piece Dimensions: 39.7 D x 8.3 H cm Materials: Marron Travertine A Modern likeness to the ancient kylix, a broad shallow body is raised on a recessed stem. The angled outer rim is disrupted with a carved threadlike shallow encircling the work. The veining of the natural stone within this detail presents as a tondo artwork created by the natural world. The oversized low bowl commands the surface it levitates above. Each piece is unique, color and veining of natural material may vary from the image shown. Matthew Fisher’s practice is marked by a fascination with objects and their relationships with people. Deep material manipulation and formal research are at the foundation of his creative process. His work ranges from unique art objects to editioned productions and celebrates the union between heritage, natural materials, and refined craftsmanship. Prompted by the anthropological study of objects, Matthew’s work conveys an emotional nostalgia through the quiet detailing of material and form. He describes his process as - ‘a search for harmony, and presence that is found in those objects that time cannot render irrelevant or dissolve.’ His portfolio is realized through historically revered natural materials like marble, alabaster, granite, and onyx. Other traditional crafts such as glass working and wood turning are present in his work as limited material explorations. Matthew designs and crafts his work with talented artisans in New York and around the globe. Matthew received his Bachelor of Arts in the study of Ancient Art and Architecture and later received his Master of Fine Arts from the renowned Pratt Institute. His work has been featured in group exhibitions and The Noguchi Museum. Raw and unvarnished in every sense, his portfolio expresses his passion for Architecture, History and Philosophy. He lives in Tribeca with his husband, Casey and dog, Thisbe.

About the Maker

Galerie Philia Furniture

Galerie Philia is a recognized contemporary design and modern fine arts gallery representing world wide known designers and artists. The Galerie Philia exhibits a collection resulting from a rhizomatic research transcending formal, stylistic, national or historical barriers. The selected art works emanates from different cultures and periods, are incarnated in various and multiform mediums, and evoke multiple and changing interior worlds. The only criterion unifying this composite plurality is their esthetical qualities and the sense they convey. The Galerie Philia attempts in this way to build bridges between different artistic continents in order to enlighten art works endowed with a marked artistic depth.
