Egyptian Revival Bronze and Marble Mantel Clock Egyptian revival mantel clock housed in a polishes black slate and marble stepped case, decorated with winged uraeus and hieroglyphs, surmounted by a patinated bronze sphinx wearing nemes and resting on lions paw feet. Enamel dial with Arabic numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands. Eight day French movement with anchor escapement striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. The backplate signed Societe Clusienne S.C.A.P.H. Cluses and numbered 4144. C.1870 Societe Clusienne were based in Cluses near to the Swiss border in France. The case attributed to G.Servant Georges Emile Henri Servant ( 1828-1890) succeeded his father at their foundry at Rue Vieille-du-Temple, Paris in 1855. He specialised in the production of Neo-Egyptian style clocks. He was noted for the high quality of his bronzes at both the Paris Universal Exhibition 1855 and the London Exhibition in 1862. A Fine Louis XVI Style Gilt-Bronze and Green Enamel Mantel Clock. French, Circa 1890. Stamped ‘Medaille d’Argent Vincenti & Cie 1855’ and with the initials ‘L.R’. This fine clock or timepiece has a spring-driven eight-day twin train movement by Vicenti et Cie, striking on a gong. The gilt-bronze case is of square-section with a stepped pediment surmounted by musical trophies above a Vitruvian scroll frieze and rosettes to each corner, below is a circular enamel dial with Arabic numerals and floral swags, set within a finely painted iridescent green enamel panel depicting a courting couple in conversation. The sides are similarly painted with fair maidens in a wooded landscape and the back cast with strap-work and Vitruvian scrolls; a circular hinged door opening to reveal the movement. Vincenti was a much respected clock maker, a Corsican who set up in 1823 in Montbeliard using machinery of his own design. Following his death in 1834 his business was carried on by Roux et Cie...

A very smart and stylish antique French Charles X period mantel clock in ormolu and patinated bronze with original ormolu throughout and surmounted by a fine ormolu urn on a stepped base. The clock signed on the dial "Mallet Hr. de Mg le Duc d'Orleans". The clock is set on decorated ormolu block feet and is constructed of patinated bronze with ormolu mouldings and applied ormolu mounts. A fine ormolu moulding is above the base and above this is a fine mount of a lyre surrounded by volumes of book and laurel.
