About the Item

Atmos clock by Jaeger LeCoultre in classic design Switzerland Brass Year of manufacture 1965 Dimensions: H x W x D: 22 x 18 x 13.5 cm Description: On offer is a 1965 Atmos in a timeless and classic design. This model was produced under Ref. No. 5800 between 1955 and 1984. Atmos V calibre 526 in a gold-plated brass case with white dial ring and Arabic numerals. Serial number: 192591 Year of manufacture: 1965 The Atmos V is also known colloquially as the Atmos "Baby". Its case is somewhat smaller and more restrained than that of the previous model numbers. After initial sales difficulties in the 1930s and 1940s, Jaeger LeCoultre finally achieved its breakthrough with the production of the Atmos V calibre 526. The clock was advertised intensively, particularly in the USA. This attracted large American companies as customers, who presented their long-serving employees with an Atmos watch as a company anniversary gift. In Europe, too, people were enthusiastic about the idea, as an Atmos clock symbolises constant performance and tireless hard work. The targeted production of 1500 units per month was achieved with the completion of a new 200 m² production workshop and the creation of 23 new jobs in June 1955. Even if the production volume initially only lasted a few months, the professionalisation of production and the reduction of the cost price laid the foundations for the great success of the 526 calibre, which was then also offered with various dial variants and highly marketable special models from the 1960s onwards. You can also find some of these different models in my range. Take a look around at "other items of this dealer"! Condition: Revised, flawless factory condition. Absolute accuracy. Beautiful case condition with minimal signs of age and wear. This model is illustrated in the literature: Jean Lebet - Living on Air - The history of the Atmos pendulum clock p. 63
