this work by famed Sculpture and Painter Georges Oudot was cast circa 1955 and bears his signature and the mark EA indicating its an artist proof, the foundry stamp of Susse Fondeur Paris. Entitled “Femme Debout au Drape” the work is dynamic and powerful as are almost all of the artist's figural works in bronze. The figure is cast and retains its original patina in a dark black-green. The artist's hand and the textural nature of his work are clearly evident in this piece. He was born in France in 1928 in Chaumont in the Haute-Mare. He attended the Besancon School of Fine Arts then in 1946 joined the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and studied under such artists as Marcel Gimond...

A magnificent French patinated bronze figural group entitled 'Gloria Victis' by Marius-Jean-Antonin Mercie, raised on ormolu mounted rouge marble clock base. Original rich dark patina.
Mercié's original plaster sculpture of Gloria Victis won a medal at the 1874 Paris Salon. This highly detailed sculpture is Cast by Barbedienne foundry who was the leading manufacture of artistic bronzes during the second half of the 19th century, from a model by Marius-Jean-Antonin Mercie in the last quarter 19th century. One example of this piece is at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. Another one can be found in Bordeaux, France, where it faces Saint André's Cathedral.

Gloucester TWP, Camden County College’s Marlin Gallery will present works by the late Cherry Hill sculptor Frederick Schumm in the show “Retrospective” starting March 21.
Schumm was a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., who served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Driven by an interest in whittling and sculpture, he used G.I. Bill funds to develop his talents with study at the Colorado Institute of Fine Arts.
In the early 1960s, he developed an original method for casting small bronzes at the same time that he was designing and helping to construct a sculptural playground for the Colorado Springs Parks Department.
The playground pieces were featured in "Woman’s Day" magazine and can viewed online at you tube His bronze-casting innovations led to his receipt of a Fulbright Scholarship and two years of study in Florence, Italy.
