About the Item

The Meissen Monkey Band, also known as the Monkey Orchestra, is a collection of 19-21 porcelain monkey figures that were created between 1747 and 1766 by Johann Joachim Kaendler and Peter Reinicke. The figures were based on drawings by Christophe Huet and are considered to be some of the finest examples of porcelain art. While the complete band is extremely difficult to accumulate, there is a fun and exciting opportunity here to start a life-time collection or continue your search at completing the set! Marked appropriately to the underside.
