About the Item

Bill Mack (Minnesota b. 1949) tranquility sculpture bronze with white patina, on base signed and numbered. It is an early work from 1994 and without a doubt, is one of his finest pieces ever. Mack's signature in the bronze, is guaranteed authentic, and, comes with a Gallery Letter of Authenticity. From our Fine Arts and Americana collection, a stunning and massive alto-relief sculpture in bonded sand by American contemporary art legend Bill Mack. For those who have followed the American Contemporary Art Movement over the last 20 years or so, Bill Mack needs no introduction. For those unfamiliar with his work, Bill Mack sculpts in what is referred to as “alto-relief,” which is a variation of bas-relief but incorporates even much greater depth and three dimensionality with portions of sculptures rendered in the “full round,” similar to Classic Greek and Roman sculpture and statuary. Mack is known world-wide, with pieces held in the collections of former heads of state like ex-Presidents Ford, Reagan, and Clinton, famous actors and actresses like Sylvester Stallone and Elizabeth Taylor, as well as many corporate titans and heads of industry. Mack has exhibited internationally of course, with shows in Tokyo, Frankfurt, England, and France among many others. And certain pieces of his have been enshrined permanently in American landmarks such as his sculpture entitled “Lady,” which is now part of the permanent collection of the Statute of Liberty National Monument on Liberty Island. Additionally, he has several other pieces enshrined at various important pro sports related venues, such as his Peggy Fleming statue at the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame, and his Lyle Alzado statue at the NFL Hall of Fame. 19th Century Alabaster Sculpture After Falconet "La Baigneuse"
By Étienne Maurice Falconet
Located in LA CIOTAT, FR
This exquisite alabaster sculpture is a refined interpretation of "La Baigneuse" (The Bather), originally created by the renowned French sculptor Étienne-Maurice Falconet in the mid-18th century. Known for his delicate treatment of the female form and his ability to convey grace and sensuality with subtlety, Falconet’s Bather became one of the most iconic representations of neoclassical taste in the decorative arts. The figure is depicted nude, in a moment of quiet intimacy, holding a small sphere and resting one hand on a column draped with fabric. Her head is slightly bowed, and her gentle expression evokes a sense of introspection and softness. The figure’s elegant posture, with one leg subtly bent and the weight shifted delicately to the other, creates a harmonious balance and a fluid sense of movement. Carved in alabaster, the sculpture has a luminous, velvety surface that enhances the refined modeling of the body, the finely detailed hair, and the naturalistic folds of the drapery. This material lends the figure a timeless quality, echoing the marble originals of the 18th century while bringing its own delicate glow. This piece exemplifies the neoclassical fascination with antiquity, ideal beauty, and the private moments of mythological or allegorical figures. A beautiful addition to any collection, it brings the charm and elegance of 18th century French sculpture...
