Vase by Olle Alberius from the 'Sarek' Series for Rörstrand, Sweden.
Located in Skarpnäck, SE
A fantastic large vintage ceramic vase from the very well-known designer Olle Alberius, known as "Sarek" from Rörstrand, Sweden. Alberius ceramic always has a special feeling, the shapes are simple, but the glazing is just stunning, the pattern is slightly abstract, yet knowing that Alberius has used the Swedish nature as an inspiration for his ceramics make sense. Sarek is one of Sweden's most famous national parks, hence the name of the series. All his objects are individual since they are hand painted. The price includes free shipping. It has a warm dark brown color with earth tones as well as white details and is signed and numbered. It is 22cm high and 9cm in diameter (8.66") and (3.54") and it is in a very good condition. Between the years 1957 - 1965, Olle Alberius worked in Strömstad as a designer at SYCO keramik, where he created a large number of dishes, figurines, vases and bowls. He later works at Rörstrand, and between 1963 and 1965 he was employed at both SYCO keramik and Rörstrand. Alberius was attached to Rörstrand's Porcelain Factory in 1963–1971, where he worked partly with handicrafts and partly with tableware in flint and feldspar porcelain...

Sculptural Silver Center Bowl with Relief Surface Graziella Laffi
Located in Atlanta, GA
A stunning sterling silver vessel in the form of a stemmed bowl crafted by Graziella Laffi (1923-2009), Lima, Peru, Circa 1965. Marked on the rim: G. Laffi, PERU. The vessel was designed as a modern rendition of ancient pre-Columbina drinking vessel used in ceremony. The piece projects a regal and substantial aura due to its thick double wall construction with seamless craftmanship. The exterior surface was decorated with high relief roundels protrusion alternated with a radiating design that resembles star fish or a blooming flower. It has an impressive presence with its unique form and ornamentation that appears both modern and ancient at the same time. Graziella Laffi was born in 1923 in Florence, Italy to Gino Laffi, a silversmith and artist. Following her family tradition, Graziella enrolled in master classes after elementary school, focusing on design and painting. She next attended Escuela de Bellas Artes de Puerta Romana for three years, where Gino taught, and then to the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, where she concentrated in architecture until the start of World War II. In 1947, Graziella, then twenty-four, immigrated with her parents to Peru. Gino later created a silversmith studio and showroom called Fabrica Laffi on Avenue Mexico, where Graziella initially learned her Craft. The Pre-Columbian culture in her adopted country inspired Graziella to travel and collect, which ultimately influence her design in the silver pieces. Graziella learned the metalworking techniques of the ancient Peruvian civilizations and rejected the current technology. She mostly used hammering, rolling and creating joints as the ancients do. As an ambassador of Peruvian culture, her work promoted the indigenous Peruvian art and rekindled the interest in its ancient heritage throughout South America, the United States and Europe. She exhibited her growing collection of Peruvian artifacts...

Alvino Bagni for Raymor Vase, Ceramic, Brown, Beige, Earth Tones, Signed
Located in New York, NY
Alvino Bagni for Raymor vase, ceramic, brown, beige, earth tones, signed. Chunky medium scale organic gourd form vase with a pinched neck, sloped shoulders, and footed base. Signed on the underside with a Raymor label which reads: 4437 BAG. Alvino Bagni was born in Lastra a Signa, Italy, in 1919, and from a young age he began to take an interest in ceramics, which was an important industry at the time in the area around Signa, Lastra a Signa and Montelupo (Florence). Thanks to the teachings of an elderly artist, Torello Santini, he got a job in the workshop of Arnaldo Pugi’s ceramics factory in Ponte a Signa. After the Second World War, Pugi gave Bagni the financial support to help him open his own workshop. And with 3,500 plates bearing the slogan “I like Ike” (produced for the electoral campaign of Dwight D. Eisenhower, who became 34th US president in 1953) the story of Ceramiche Bagni began. Alvino took several family members with him, first and foremost his wife Gina, who accompanied him throughout his career. The fifties and sixties were fundamentally important for the Bagni company, which succeeded in establishing privileged relations with a number of important names in American design and business, including Raymor (N.Y.) and Rosenthal, for whom he created extremely modern items for that time. In 1970 the company moved to a larger, more modern factory, where it was able to take business up a gear. Here Alvino surrounded himself with highly-skilled collaborators and artists, such as E. Borgini, M. Mannori, R. Buti, M. Santonocito, and many others, with whom he achieved a perfect balance between material, technique and aesthetics. By 1980 the factory had as many as 100 employees, and was renowned for its high-quality artistic production, elegant objects and its use of new and experimental techniques. As the working world changed, becoming increasingly globalized and open to new competition, the company found itself in difficulty. Tied as it was to its “artisanal” approach, it struggled to withstand the excessive drop in prices… despite all his efforts to save his employees and his factory, in 1990 it closed for good. However, in ’93 he was back in the game with the new venture Nuove Forme...
