Aldo Londi Thai Silk Vase, Bitossi for Rosenthal Netter, Blue, Green, Gold

About the Item

Mid-Century Modern vase was designed by Aldo Londi and produced by Bitossi for Rosenthal Netter. It is decorated with a band of gold flowers on Rimini blue, outlined with sgraffito pattern, over textured olive-green background; blue and gold bands close to the neck of the vase guide the eye and add visual continuity to the piece. The pattern is often referred to as Thai Silk; it was mostly used on various bowls, ashtrays, jars, and vases. The vase is signed on the bottom; it is missing its distributor sticker, but it's easy to attribute with multiple examples of Thai Silk pieces listed in online auctions and catalogues.
