About the Item

A very stylish German Jugendstil silver plated novelty figural gin pourer by renowned makers WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) and dating from around 1900. The gin pourer is formed as barrel mounted raised on four scroll feet with a putti figure sat straddling the barrel and holding a raised goblet and supporting a bottle with the other hand. The hollowed-out barrel has a top filling hole to one end with the bottle forming a pouring spout. The pourer is marked to the base of one foot with WMF I/O and AS quality marks and is a fine quality novelty period example for which WMF was renowned. Provenance: acquired in the British art market. In good used condition with some natural silver tarnishing.
