MCM Silver Fade Ombre French Carafe Decanter & 8 Stems Style Dorothy Thorpe
Located in Topeka, KS
Stunning vintage mid-century modern beverage serving set of eight silver fade ombre French stem glasses and one carafe or decanter in the style of Dorothy Thorpe but unsigned. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, one glass has a tiny chigger chip in the rim & a blemish in the silver fade, one has a small chip in the foot, & one other has a blemish in the silver. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. Disclaimer: photos make the chips look much larger than they are. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-20th Century. Isn’t this vintage serving set MAGNIFIQUE!!! We certainly think so!!! This is a gorgeous vintage beverage serving set including a fabulous decanter or carafe and eight stem glasses in the style of Dorthy Thorpe we have to offer to you!! The glasses have “France” stamped on the bottom and “oooh la la” are they beautiful!! They are in the style of the famed Dorothy Thorpe silver fade design but are not signed by her. Impress your guests when you serve a tasty beverage of your choice in this lovely silver ombre decanter or carafe and pour into these fabulous stem glasses. Having the girls over for brunch? How fun will it be to serve fresh squeezed orange juice or delicious mimosas in these stunning silver stems. Or maybe you’re having a dinner party, and you want an extravagant way to serve your guests the wine, liqueur, aperitif, or whatever notable cocktail you prefer? Look no further. Bohemian Glass Vase Loetz circa 1901 Viennese Art Nouveau Yellow Gold Silver
Located in Klosterneuburg, AT
Vase, Johann Loetz Witwe, unidentified decoration, ca. 1901, signed "Loetz Austria" This elegantly curved vase with its luminous gold shimmering decoration gives it a fascinating appearance. The applied dots evoke images of water lilies, whose color spectrum ranges from silver-yellow to violet and blue depending on the incidence of light. The vertically drawn silver-blue threads emphasize the presence and size of the 31cm high body of the vase. The iridescent decoration is accentuated particularly by the organically curved basic form with its triple folded and expressively curved mouth. It allows us to experience the beauty of the vase's silver-yellow interior even from a distance. This exquisite work of art glass is destined for a true Art Nouveau heart...

Set of Fife Antique Millefiori Vases by Fratelli Toso, Murano
Located in Berghuelen, DE
Set of Fife Antique Millefiori Vases by Fratelli Toso, Murano A set of five millefiore murrine glass vases, manufactured by Vetreria Fratelli Toso around 1910-20. All vases feature handles and are executed with polychrome multicoloured murrines. Four vases have an acid etched matte finish, one vase with glossy finish. The vases are authentic examples of early 20th century Murano art glass. They were part of a large Fratelli Toso glass collection with over 600 pieces - collected since the 1970s. Fratello Toso was one of the leading art glass manufacturers of Murano in the 20th century. In the early 1900's Fratelli Toso started to produce glasses in murrine technique. Murrine and Millefiori glasses remained a major product field of Fratelli Toso. In 1912 a very successful series of liberty inspired art glasses, designed by Hans Stoltenberg Lerche...

Antique, New and Vintage Glass

Whether you’re seeking glass dinner plates, centerpieces, platters and serveware or other items to elevate the dining experience or brighten the corners of your living room, bedroom or other spaces by displaying decorative pieces, find an extraordinary range of antique, new and vintage glass on 1stDibs.

Glassmaking is more than 4,000 years old. It is believed to have originated in Northern Mesopotamia, where carved glass objects were the result of a series of experiments led by potters or metalworkers. From there, the production of glass vases, bottles and other objects proliferated in Egypt under the reign of Thutmose III. Later, new glassmaking techniques took shape during the Hellenistic era, and glassblowing was invented in contemporary Israel. Then, on the island of Murano in Venice, Italy, modern art glass as we know it came to be.

Over the years, collectors of glass decorative objects or serveware have sought out distinctive antique and vintage pieces of the mid-century modern, Art Deco and Art Nouveau eras, with artisans such as Archimede Seguso, René Lalique and Émile Gallé of particular interest for the pioneering contributions they made to the respective styles in which they worked. Today, long-standing glassworks such as Barovier&Toso carry on the Venetian glasswork tradition, while modern furniture designers and sculptors such as Christophe Côme and Jeff Zimmerman elsewhere test the limits of the radical art form that is glassmaking.

From chandeliers to Luminarc stemware, find a collection of antique, new and vintage glass on 1stDibs.
