Mason's Ironstone Hydra Jug in Cashmire De Thibet Ptn, William 1Vth circa 1833
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a good, Mason's ironstone hydra jug with a snake handle in the Cashmire De Thibet pattern dating to the William 1Vth English 19th century period, circa 1832-1836 The jug has an octagonal hydra shape with a snake handle. This pattern is not often seen. It is called "Cashmire De Thibet" and is illustrated on page 60 of the book; A Guide To Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns, published by The Mason's Collectors' Club. The jug is unmarked to the base as was sometimes the case, but is definitely by Mason's Ironstone as they were the only manufacturer to produce a jug in this shape with this pattern and dating to the English William 1Vth period circa 1832-1836. Notes on the pattern. This unusual name of "Cashmire De Thibet" was a name applied circa 1832-1836, to summer scarves...

Late 19th Century French Saint Clement Painted Ceramic Barbotine Monkey Pitcher
Located in Dallas, TX
This colorful Majolica water pitcher was sculpted in Saint Clement, France, circa 1890. The ceramic jug is in the shape of a colorful monkey wearing a jacket, with spout thru his mouth. The pitcher is hand painted in the white and grey palette and is stamped on the bottom 435 (Saint Clement, Keller & Guerin, France). The pitcher is in excellent condition with rich patinated colors. Pictured in the book "Pichets en Barbotine" by Maryse Bottero page 45. See last picture. Saint Clement pottery was established by Jacques Chambrette in St. Clément in 1758 producing traditional French faience. The factory was a branch of Chambrette’s Luneville pottery, but was managed by his son-in-law Charles Loyal, Paul Louis Cyfflé, and architect Richard Mique. By the beginning of the 19th century, both concerns had been acquired by Keller and Guérin. St. Clément began producing Majolica during the 1860s and continued for some forty years. St. Clément Majolica is characterized by subtle shadings of colors. Majolica pieces include a series of figural jugs including a rooster, chimpanzee, and an absinthe pitcher...
