About the Item

Antique German KPM Porcelain Lidded Bartmann Jug Tankard. 19th century German Bellarmine Bartmann jug with bearded man from the Porcelain Manufactory KPM Berlin. Jugs like this are also known as narrow necked jugs or German Enghalskrug. It has a baluster shape with a loop handle and a mounted pewter lid. The decorations are radiating ornaments in cobalt blue against a white base. The KPM scepter mark on the base dates the jug to 1849-1870. This rare Bartmann bearded man tankard is of museum quality. Comparable examples can be found at: the Museum MAK Koeln Germany Victoria & Albert Museum London Collection of Les Paul USA Condition - Excellent Measurements: H 15” x W 7 ¼” Weight: 4 lb 3 oz.
