Le Corbusier Collection Chandigarh Square Tray For Cassina

About the Item

Le Corbusier Collection Chandigarh Square Tray For Cassina Cassina looks to the genius of Le Corbusier as inspiration for a collection of three modern trays in pure, unglazed porcelain that borrow some of the symbolic bas-relief designs drawn from the figurative archive of the city of Chandigarh. Cassina in collaboration with Ginori 1735 and the Le Corbusier Foundation Cassina takes its inspiration from the genius of Le Corbusier for a collection of three trays in pure, unglazed porcelain. These trays borrow some of the bas-relief symbols chosen for the walls of the buildings of Chandigarh, the city designed in the 1950s and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The same procedure can be seen in Marseille in the Unité d’Habitation on the sculptures moulées, symbolic designs embedded by Le Corbusier in the concrete – béton brut – taken from his figurative portfolio. Each tray, made by Ginori 1735, includes a design sketched by the Master in 1956: the open hand symbolising peace (square tray with rounded corners), the fish (round tray), the movement of the sun (rectangular tray Important information regarding images of products: Please note that some of the images show other colors and variations of the model, these images are only to present interior design proposals. Josef Albers Study for Homage to the Square Limited Ed. MOCA Ceramic Platter
By Josef Albers
Located in Studio City, CA
German-born artist Josef Albers wonderfully designed Homage to the Square, four glazed Italian porcelain ceramic platters, chargers, plates, each hallmarked/stamped on verso, from a limited sold-out edition. Each platter comes in its original box and is based on Albers' 1954 original oil on masonite work. Albers is widely considered one of the most influential artists and teachers of the visual arts in the twentieth century. The platters were done in a limited edition run of 1500 in 1999 and quickly sold out. They were all made in Italy specifically for MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art). Would be a great addition to any modern art or ceramic collection. These platters have become rare and scarce - especially in this pristine, as new condition. Platter dimensions: .75" high, 11.75" wide, 11.75" deep...

Doyle Lane Mid-Century Modern Rare Colored Glass Ceramic Pottery Square Form
By Doyle Lane
Located in Studio City, CA
A rare, beautifully designed glass or ceramic form by famed midcentury American artist or potter Doyle Lane. Lane was a glaze specialist much like Glen Lukens and Otto Natzler. His colorful glazes would melt, bubble and crack over his pieces creating a very tactile look and feel. His work ranged from beaded necklaces and pendants to small, delicate vases or weed pots to ceramic sculptures, clay paintings, and large scale wall mosaics (including his most well-known work - an 18-foot mosaic or mural known as the orange wall which was commissioned by architect Welton Becket...
