Carlo Nason, born in Murano in 1935 from one of the oldest families of glassmakers on the island, he was a great master glassmaker. He grows up frequenting the glass masters who work in the family furnace, appropriating the most refined techniques of glass art, demonstrating an innovative and planning aptitude which he employed in the field of design, but referring back to tradition.
In 1925 the Nason Moretti company was founded by the nasone brothers, specialized in the production of furnishing accessories and tableware, where the mastery of the most refined Murano techniques is integrated with a modern vision and careful chromatic research.
In 1955 Umberto Nason created an innovative project of two-coloured bowls and glasses which earned him the Compasso d'oro award. In the 60s with the second generation of the family there is a great development of the company which still maintains the characteristic vocation for experimentation. In the 1980s, he looked at lighting with postmodern reinterpretations of designed lights, with the Carlo Moretti Studio line and the series of collector's goblets and tumblers.
Since the 1990s, the activity has focused on new collections conceived in a modern and design-oriented key. Carlo Moretti of Venice, founded by Carlo in 1958 in Murano, passed under new ownership in 2013, but is still today an important company for its constant relationship with design. The company is known for the beauty and elegance of Murano glass, reaching not only the tables of the most important families, but also the modern tables of today. Amazing chandelier by Gino Sarfatti made in Italy in the 1960s. Made out of a metal structure holding 3 milk glass globes. Ball diameter 30 cm. Each ball consists of two parts - transparent and milky white. Gives a beautiful diffuse light emission. Very good vintage condition. Requires three E27 bulbs. The wiring is suitable for all countries in the world. Wiring replaced by professional electrician. Gino Sarfatti played a significant role in the history of industrial design in Italy. Italian engineer Gino Sarfatti started the Arteluce Company in 1939 and would go on to design over 700 lighting products—floor lamps, chandeliers, spotlights, and other light fittings—between the mid-1930s and early 1970s. His work at Arteluce effectively shaped the modern architectural movement in Italy and supported many of the mid-century designers including Franco Albini, Gianfranco Frattini, Sergio Asti, and Ico Parisi. Through his exploration and experimentation with new materials like Plexiglas, diverse production methodologies and techniques as well as light sources, such as halogen bulbs, Sarfatti was a true innovator of Italian lighting and design.
