About the Item

Painted metal ceiling lamp. Quisisiana (from the Latin quid est sana, which means “what is healthy”) is the melodious name chosen by Sottsass for this lamp that assembles interconnected geometric forms in a harmonious movement. Designed in 1981, Quisisiana is a ceiling lamp in coated metal, with finishing in aluminium and steel. Initially envisioned as part of the décor of the Grand Hotel of the same name in Capri, the lamp soon gained great popularity as an avant-garde design piece. Various cultural institutions have included this icon in their collections: MoMA New York, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, and the Vitra Design Museum at Weil am Rhein.
