About the Item

Borne Béton, a concrete lamp, was meticulously conceived by Le Corbusier in 1952 for the Projet Unité d’Habitation de Marseille (Housing Unity Project) and the Bhakra and Sukhna Dams in India. After transforming the architectural approach to daylighting with the introduction of the horizontal window and the creation of the iconic sunshade, Le Corbusier also turned his talents to the design of lighting elements in the post-war period.
