18th Century Six Italian Gilded Wall Cadleholders Set of Six Foliate Sconces

From Northern Italy a rare set of six 18th century gilt wrought iron arms, candle holders, hanging lantern brackets suitable as sconces, if you wire them. These iron arms are fully handmade with curved scrolling iron structure, decorated with  elegant gilt wrought iron acanthus leaves and gildwood balls and bobeches.. Good age related condition, the six arms have the same shape and structure but slightly different sizes, with minor losses, missing giltwood balls in four of item. The gilding of the arms is in good condition, excellent feature in case of their use as sconces, overturning the irons compared to their original use. Some small lacks in the leaves of the crowns of the bobeches, as visible in the picture details. Northern Italy, 1700. This beautiful pair of sconces is a re-edition of a model of the famous Parisian bronze maker Delatour Lacarrière. Lacarrière creates in 1825 a factory at 3 bis, rue Sainte- Elisabeth (Paris, France). Simple craftsman, he specializes and excels in the application of bronze in lighting devices. In 1834, he received an honorable mention, in 1839, a bronze medal and in 1844, a silver medal for a large triangular candelabra, prefiguring the one presented at the Universal Exhibition in London in 1862. He also participated in the design of the chandelier for the Queen's Theatre in London. From 1851 to 1870, he changed his company name several times. Lacarrière, Delatour et Cie (active in 1870) cast and chiseled most of the lamp posts, candelabras and chandeliers of the Paris Opera, including the one in the auditorium, designed by Charles Garnier...

Wonderful and rare Italian chandelier in the "Montgolfière" - Hot Air Balloon - style dating from the end of the 18th – beginning of the the 19th century (circa 1780 - 1820). Built around an exceptional glass column made of a single piece of glass (75 cm) which surmounts and holds a gold leaf gilded cup. 8 solid glass arms illuminate the chandelier. At the top of the chandelier a crown of almond beads and drops forms the canopy. The chandelier is then festooned with garlands of almond shaped beads and drops. Garlands festoon from the top to a circular ring in the middle. The garlands then festoon from the circular ring and are attached to a central piece underneath. This style is typical of hot air balloon and Regency chandeliers. At the end of the 18th century, under the reign of Louis XVI, King of France, the Montgolfier brothers invented the Montgolfière.
