About the Item

An iconic Bauhaus design, this authentic Wassily chair by Marcel Breuer was produced by Gavina in Italy prior to its acquisition by Knoll. It features its original tubular chrome-plated steel frame with welded end caps—an important hallmark of early production. The cognac leather slings have a rich patina and are tightly stitched with precise edge finishing, consistent with Gavina’s craftsmanship. The exposed buckle system is intact, and all fittings are original. This chair is a benchmark of 20th-century modernist design, marrying industrial aesthetics with relaxed comfort. A must-have for collectors of Bauhaus or mid-century European design.
