About the Item

In the late 1970s Zanotta embarked on a new avenue of research aimed at identifying and recovering objects from the past of anonymous origin, "already seen," but to be revisited and repurposed in a contemporary key. With this in mind, in 1978 Zanotta proposed to Marco Zanuso to take charge of the redesign of a "familiar" outdoor folding chair whose model had been found in a used furniture store. Interpreting the concept of re-design at its best, Zanuso introduces with his design improvements to enhance the functional features and comfort of the seat. For the latter, he proposes a very refined solution by covering the slats, originally made of sheet metal, with a noble and valuable material such as leather.
