Pierre Jeanneret / Eulie Chowdhury PJ/EC-SI-51-A Chairs / Authentic Mid-Century

About the Item

This set of chairs are not only the fantastic pieces, they are design icons. It looks like a folding chair but finally you can't fold it. The shape is very clear, everything straight just backseat is slightly curved, adapted to the back of the human, which needs a curve there. The combination of that simple straight legs, that x-shape and the wider curved back piece create a great composition. Like all folding chairs, this chair knows to express an easiness and lightness. We love this combination of this strong wood frame filled with the thin caning. These contrasts make this object so unique. Each chair looks a bit different and that makes every chair to a unique piece. – Some are thinner, lower, wider, darker, with wider or denser caning, with more traces of use or less. Each chair has its own character and that makes them so unique and different to all the industrial design, where every item is 100% the same. Pierre Jeanneret created sensual designs that are not only timeless but historical. We love that. It's patinated teak gives that objects a strong character, showing all that traces of age and its uniqueness. It is finally a historical piece from a UNESCO World Heritage site, done by the most important architects of the 20th century. We don't restore them too much. So we keep as much as possible of the historic traces and value. That is essential because now there are fake pieces on the market. Authenticity: These are authentic Mid-Century pieces from Chandigarh designed by Pierre Jeanneret. Each wooden part is authentic Mid-Century, each wooden parts are originally from those chairs. No wooden parts got replaced. These chairs got examined carefully in the condition before restoration. Then all traces and important indicators were still visible, so it's certain that it's not a fake or a partially authentic object. We guarantee the authenticity and offer it with a certificate of authenticity with an identification number. The cushions and the caning are redone. Please note we have more chairs do this set can be extended.
