About the Item

A unique set of six chairs model "Grand Prix" FH 4130, designed by the legendary Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, Denmark, in the 1950s. This iconic design, winner of prestigious awards, represents one of the masterpieces of modern design and testifies to the stylistic innovation of the period. Made of teak wood with natural warmth, the chairs are lightweight, comfortable and stackable, providing practicality without compromising elegance. The distinctive design features brilliant geometric lines that lend a unique personality to any room. Each chair is authentically signed Fritz Hansen on the underside, a testament to their superior origin and quality. The "Grand Prix" chair owes its name to the prestigious award it received during the 11th Milan Triennale in 1957, where it was presented to the public with great success. That same year it was also exhibited in Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, cementing its reputation as a symbol of Scandinavian design. This first edition of the chairs, exactly like those in the presented set, features four separate "L"-shaped legs made from a laminated platform and a sturdy cross-sectional strip. This design, which aimed to combine visual lightness and structural solidity, recalled the profile of the metal legs of other shell chairs of the time. However, to improve stability, in the mid-1950s the legs were redesigned and replaced by two pieces of beechwood crossed on the inside. In addition to the wooden version, a variant with steel legs was also produced, listed in catalogs as model FH 3130. This teak set, however, represents the rarest and most sought-after version, a true collector's item that embodies the essence of 1950s Scandinavian design.
